Mutants and Masterminds Hero's Handbook Origin Edition Playtest!

4th Edition Playtest Edition COMING SOON!

Our very first sneak-peek got us a look at the Mystic archetype, so now we round out the other “M&M” archetypes with the Mentalist and the three-in-one archetype that is the Metamorph.

The Mentalist archetype is the classic telepath-telekinetic combo: A measure of a Blaster type with the added versatility of effects like Move Object and Mind Reading. As the Customization section notes, by swapping out some powers, you can create Mentalists more focused on one type of mental power or another.

The Metamorph archetype replaces the Shapeshifter, which relied on the much more complex Variable effect, which is a lot to introduce in an archetype. Instead, the Metamorph is broken down into three classic superhero body-changers: The shrinking Minimorph, the growing Maximorph, and the flexible Elastamorph. Depending on the picks for advantages, power package, and Options, you can get a whole range of different heroes!

The Maximorph and Minimorph point towards the whole revision of size and its related modifiers in the Origin Edition alongside the Growth and Shrinking powers, which are now used solely for characters who change size. Take a look at the Characteristics section of the Abilities chapter for all of the details: We’ll be looking for feedback on them!

And if you missed our earlier Origin Edition archetype previews, you can check them out here!
