Get ready for a new batch of Approved Ops coming to Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team. New tabletop challenges await.
Games Workshop is releasing a new Kill Team Approved Ops Card Pack. Inside you’ll fine the tools you need to craft new battlefields and fight over new objectives. It’s aiming to shake things up on the Kill Team front.
Kill Team missions are about to get a big shake-up, as the Approved Ops Card Pack 2025 is on the way with brand new objectives to fight over and a helping hand for all those commanders who seem to flub every initiative roll they make.
New Approved Ops For Kill Team
SO what exactly is in this new card pack? The short answer is a bunch of new Operations to play. These Ops are divided in two four different archetypes: Tac Ops, Crit Ops, Primary Ops, and Kill Ops.
“The four archetypes each get a new spread of three Tac Ops in this update, with some offering radically different ways to play compared to their previous objectives. “
In the first example provided, we get a look at the Tac Ops. These showcase the versatility you can find with the same archetype. The Recon mission is better suited for fast or flanking Kill Teams as the board is split in half. It’s really about positioning and holding your objectives here. On the flip side we have Seek & Destroy which rewards knocking out enemy operatives and wracking up those Dominate tokens.
The new Ops are designed to add to the options and not take away the existing ones. Classic Crit Ops like Secure, Loot, and Transmission are still playable. But now there will be six more Crit Ops to play, too.
All of the previews so far sound like a nice change of pace for Kill Team games. More Ops and more options is a good thing. But there’s also some added mechanics, too.
Along with the new ways to score Victory Points, there’s a mechanic that manipulates initiative rolls, giving commanders the opportunity to cash in their bad luck to seize momentum when it really matters. The winner of the first initiative roll decides who takes the initiative before the battle, and who therefore gets to select drop zones. The other gets a card that lets them re-roll a future initiative roll. Then the player that loses each subsequent initiative roll gets a card that allows them to modify a future initiative roll. The more initiative rolls you lose, the greater the chance of winning one later.
It’s worth noting that you don’t have to spend these cards as soon as you get them. In fact, you can bank them up (to point) and then use them on a critical initiative roll.
There’s also new map layouts to play around in as well. The three new leaflets in the pack include a total of six new maps for Killzone: Volkus, Bheta-decima, and the newest one Kill Team: Tomb World. There’s also returning maps for Gallowdark and other more “generic” boards, too.
The new Kill Team Approved Ops Card Pack 2025 is slated for a release shortly after the release of Kill Team: Tomb World. So be on the lookout for the new missions coming your way soon!
