We’ve got the new Games Workshop releases for the Leagues of Votann and the updated Vulkan He’stan in the studio! Come check them out.

To start things off a very special thanks to our very own Goatboy for building and painting up a these miniatures today. We got sent some previews from Games Workshop for all the new Leagues of Votann releases. It’s quite an update and these miniatures are looking great. Plus, we’ve got the new and improved Vulkan He’stan in all his Primaris Marine glory. So let’s get into it.

Leagues of Votann New Releases

Buri Aegnirssen

The Thrice-Eaten Buri Aegnirssen is here to slay out. I really like the miniature and how it shows a Votann Character with a bit more flair. It’s not every day you see one of them wearing a Tyranid as a cape! I think it adds a lot of character to the miniature and tells quite the story.

Arkanyst Evaluator

Thomas opted for the closed visor and I think it does take a little away from the mad scientist look. Then again, I’m always in favor of my miniatures wearing helmets into battle. I wouldn’t head into combat without one…so it makes sense. But, if I were doing some diorama set in a lab, I’d totally go with the helmetless version. I like this one for sure.

Memnyr Strategist

The Memnyr Strategist gives me a little bit of a mix of Leagues of Votann and the Mechanicus vibes. It’s mostly due to the power cables. That helmet does remind me of a certain unit (Kastelan Robots) however. I think it’s just more evidence of the shared origin between the Leagues and the Imperium. And speaking of robots…

Ironkin Steeljacks

Again, I can see the similarities to the Kastellan Robots from the Mechanicus here. While the Steeljacks are certainly their own unit they also function as bodyguards to the Memnry Strategists in a way. That said, there’s a bit more personality to these miniatures. You can tell there was a divergence in technology but they have a joint ancestor. Pretty neat connection!

Cthonian Earthshakers

Here’s another re-imagined unit for the Leagues of Votann. It’s a bit of a throwback to the old Squat range, but the new Cthonian Earthshaker is certainly it’s own thing. I also like that it comes with a lot of extra bits and you can make a mini diorama for this unit. It’s not quite as intricate as the artillery of the Astra Militarum. But I still think it’s neat.

Kapricus

And finally we have the new dual kit for the Kapricus. You can make this one a transport or more of gunboat. I like that we’re getting another vehicle option for the Leagues of Votann. It’s kind of in the middle of the trikes and the Sagitaur — which I think is the entire point. In any case it’s a nice addition to the Leagues of Votann range. I’m curious to see how these perform on the tabletop.

Vulkan He’stan

Now, we did have one more release but it wasn’t from the Leagues of Votann. It’s the new Vulkan He’stan miniature.

As I mentioned, Goatboy got to paint this one up in his own style. Personally, I really like the update to Vulkan He’stan. It’s absolutely a callback to the old version but it’s larger is scale and it’s now in plastic (which is great). I always wondered why we got Adrax Agatone instead of a new Vulkan He’stan. Well, now we have both and I’m okay with that!

What miniature are you most excited about from these releases?
