The Hall of Justice has an easter-egg filled mural in the newest Superman movie. But it’s more than a building. It’s an institution.
The Hall of Justice is the pride and joy of Metropolis, where it houses the Metahuman league known as the Justice Gang (brought to you by LordTech). But the Hall of Justice is more than just a corporate-sponsored retreat for the Justice Gang. It’s also a cornerstone for many of the mightiest Metahumans to ever work on a team together.
Hall of Justice – Layout and Areas of Interest
The Hall of Justice was built in Metropolis (though in some timelines it’s Washington, DC) presumably by Maxwell Lord, CEO of LordTech, proud sponsor of the Justice Gang. And as you might expect for a headquarters designed with Metahumans (and the kinds of foes they often face) in mind, it is significantly more resilient than meets the eye.
In fact, it is a veritable fortress. It is said to be reinforced with blast resistant concrete and more than 400 tons of reinforced titanium plates. Meaning it can withstand attacks from kaiju and dimensional imps with relative ease—certainly long enough for its superpowered occupants to ward off any significant threat.
It also contains all the rooms a superpowered team might require. Including several High Technology Clean Labs, the most famous of which is HTCL 2. This was said to be the most advanced laboratory of its kind in North America, and is likely where Mr. Terrific has set up shop. With its advanced tools and otherworldly technology, making complex devices like T-Spheres becomes possible not just theoretical.
For those members of the Justice Gang (or other teams) who have more need of physical training – there’s the Kitchen. The Kitchen, in the Hall of Justice, was said to be a combat training room, capable of giving even Hawkgirl a workout, nevermind Guy Gardner.
The Metahuman Mural
But of all the various attractions, perhaps the centerpiece experience is the Metahuman Mural. This is a mural that depicts the history of Metahumans. Known to have awakened some 300 years ago, starting with “gods and monsters” the history of Metahumans is a long and storied one. This mural depicts some long stretch of it.
This mural is a who’s who in the Metahuman world. You might be wondering who, exactly, is who. But don’t worry, let’s go through it, starting with the top left and working to the right:
- Sister Silence
- Silent Knight
- Exoristos
- Black Pirate
- Miss Liberty (on unnamed horse)
- Whip Whirlwind
- Super Chief
- El Diablo
- Hugo Danner
- Ghost of Flanders
- Sandman
- Amazing Man
- Zatara
And then on the bottom portion of this mural picture, once again, starting on the left and working right:
- Liberty Belle
- Bulletman
- Max Mercury
- Bulletgirl
- TNT
- Dyna-Mite
- Phantom Lady
- Atomic Knight
- Freedom Beast
- Wildcat
- Vibe
- Gunfire
- Maxwell Lord
With such a pedigree, one can only wonder about the history of the world, leading up the battle between Superman and the so-called Hammer of Boravia.
Perhaps in time, we’ll learn the whole story! Who would YOU want to see the tale of? My vote’s on El Diablo OR TNT and Dyna-Mite!
