A shady individual claiming to be from the Department of Temporal Investigations just paid a visit and reminded me about the release of the first edition Sciences Division Supplemental Rulebook, which came out in 2018. Now, with the release of the second edition, we’re taking the opportunity to update material we weren’t able to include in the second edition core rulebook and supplements.

If you missed the Sciences Division book the first time around (the PDF remains available for sale on the Modiphius webstores and DTRPG), let’s briefly review its contents.
Like the Command Division and Operations Division books that preceded it, the Sciences Division book provides a wealth of lore and game material for the Sciences division, including advice on exploration missions, various mission and starship protocols, science missions, medical ethics, discussions on unusual alien species, such as the Q, information about time travel and alternate universes, and a wealth of game material for the science and medical departments. Also included is a system for generating aliens and a discussion on biological hazards.
Both science officers and medical officers get new focus options and talents. Many of the talents were revised for inclusion in the Star Trek Adventures second edition core rulebook. In addition, the book provides a wealth of plot component story options for engaging your medical and science officers, and closes out with a selection of NPCs available for use in the game, including notable canon characters such as Doctor Carol Marcus, Doctor Noonien Soong, and Doctor Lewis Zimmerman.
Nathan Dowdell, the 2d20 Systems Developer, took the opportunity to revise the game components of the book that did not make it into the second edition core rulebook and compile that information into a document. We now provide that document, for free, on the Star Trek Adventures downloads page. The final PDF will also be made available in the download package for the book on the webstores and DTRPG. If you’ve already bought the book, you should receive the free download right away. If not, reach out to support@modiphius.com and they will sort it out.
I hope all of this updated information proves useful to you and helps enhance your Star Trek Adventures games. What is your favorite rule or rules option from the Sciences Division book that you want to use in your second edition games? What ideas or suggestions do you have? Share your insights with your fellow fans at the official Modiphius Discord!
And if you haven’t bought the book yet, the digital edition remains available for sale. The second edition revision document will be added to the download package for the book as well as the Star Trek Adventures download page.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I don’t want to keep the DTI waiting, if that’s even possible.
