The Cosmere RPG Launches With ‘The Stormlight Set’ October 29th

The Cosmere RPG finally gets an official launch date from Brotherwise Games—you can delve into the Stormlight Archives on October 29th!

After running the single most successful RPG Kickstarter (at least in terms of money raised by backers), the Stormlight Archives RPG, which was actually secretly just the Cosmere RPG all along, is coming to a tabletop near you—and a whole lot sooner than you might think. With an official release date of October 29th, the Cosmere RPG descends upon us all. Starting with the Stormlight Set.

The Cosmere RPG Launches October 29th

Brotherwise Games’ Stormlight RPG kicks off the whole Cosmere. And it kicks it off with a bang, too. On the October 29th release, players will be able to grab a boxed starter set, core rule/setting books, and of course, a ton of accessories and a big campaign adventure. Let’s take a look.

The Stormlight Starter Set is a boxed set that includes a 60 page quickstart ruleset. It also features a 48-page adventure designed to get you playing the game pretty immediately. Along with the two booklets, are a handful of battlemaps and tokens, as well as six different pre-generated characters and a special plot die to play with.

The core rules, on the other hand, are big, chunky books. I mean, each one is beefy. The Stormlight RPG is spread out over two books (at least at launch). There’s the Stormlight Handbook, which is a 392-page book that takes you through character creation, rules for running and playing the game. The classic player handbook and GM guide rolled into one. But then there’s the Stormlight World Guide. This is a 280-page guide to the history and culture and world of Roshar (and a bit about the Cosmere setting as well.)

And rounding out all the rest? The Stonewalkers Adventure. This is a 172-page campaign booklet. Designed to take characters from 1st-level through 8th-level, you’ll get a real feel for how the game is meant to handle with this one.

All of these, alongside a set of miniatures, custom dice, a GM screen and map pack—all the usual RPG accessory suspects—are due to release October 29th. Of course, if you’re one of the many backers of the $15+ million Kickstarter, you probably have yours coming already. But, for those looking to jump into the Cosmere, October 29th is going to be your day!
