The Nighthaunt Lord Vitriolic and the Flesh-eater Courts High Falconer Felgryn are both in the studio. Time to take an up close look at them.
With two new characters coming to the tabletop along with two new battletomes the Death Grand Alliance is getting a boost this weekend from Games Workshop. We’ve got the new Lord Vitriolic from the Nighthaunt and High Falconer Felgryn from the Flesh-eater Courts on hand and built. So let’s take a closer look at both!
Nighthaunt Lord Vitriolic
This miniature is one I’ve been waiting for because it was teased as a Rumor Engine a long time ago. I’ve also got a Nighthaunt army and I think this character will make a good addition to my collection. Personally, I really like the extra set of hands that GW sculpted on this character. The ghostly spirits were already specters of death. But the Lord Vitriolic is leaning more into that weird body horror style that some of the more “normal” ghosts. It’s weird and creepy which totally fits with the Nighthaunt theme.
I’m also looking forward to painting this one up. I think the vials and the smoke cloud are really going to make this miniature pop. For me it’s been a while since I painted up my Nighthaunts. Good thing I wrote down all my steps for the base colors.
Flesh-eater Courts High Falconer Felgryn
The High Falconer does come with two miniatures so that’s one thing I wanted to mention. Thematically, I like the concept of a High Falconer in the FEC army. It fits with the delusions of nobility they have. The concept that the Falcons were swapper out for Bats is just very on brand for the FEC.
The miniature itself isn’t my favorite sculpt but I can appreciate the details. I’m just not a huge fan of the ghouls in FEC — but that’s more of a personal preference thing. This army is very grotesque with lots of guts and viscera strewn about. I prefer my undead to be neater or at least ghostly and rusty instead of ghoulish and gross. But you do you.
Anyhow, there’s a lot of nooks and crannies on this miniature. From the gnarly tree to the cloth and hair of the High Falconer. I think a good wash and layering is going go a long way on this one. I also like his little buddy that comes with him. It’s certainly not a cute bat. But I don’t hate it!
Both of these miniatures are up for pre-order this weekend from Games Workshop.
