Games Workshop has a ton of updates in the latest Warcry update. They are paving the way for the future of this skirmish game.
Warcry is getting some much needed attention with a massive update from Games Workshop. This one includes new units, points, and some rules changes, too. You can download the update right HERE.
“Most of you have stopped reading by now to download the file and inhale the content, which is okay, we understand. For those of you still with us, we’ve given a bunch of points breaks to underperforming warbands and units. Claws of Karanak get a bunch of drops, as do Rotbringers, the Teratic Cohort and Gloomspite Gitz. Most of these fighters are doing fine in the game, but you might find yourself running out of steam a little too early, so having an extra fighter or two around will really help you stick it out.”
Warcry’s Massive August 2025 Update
There’s a TON of points updates in this update. The last 10 pages of this 34 page document covers all the various units in the game and just about every single one of those pages has points updates. It’s not that ALL the units got points tweaks but, if you’re playing Warcry, you really should check to see what your Warband is running in terms of points.
On top of those changes, there’s also a bunch of new units that have been added to the game, too. There’s the Blades of the Hollow King, High Falconer Felgryn, Lord Vitriolic, and even more.
“This is barely scratching the surface, as the Knives of the Crone, Order of Azyr, Idoneth Deepkin, Gloomspite Gitz, Maggotkin of Nurgle, Stormcast Eternals, and even more besides join the roster of options for Warcry players. “
There’s also a host of new rules updates in the game, too. The one you really want to need to know about is the change to the Counter rule:
“The biggest universal change in this update is an errata to Counter. This is proving to be a go-to reaction that has a lopsided effect in a lot of match-ups. A low-value model can return far more damage to an enemy attacking them than they will ever do by swinging their own sword, so we’ve taken steps to address this with a lower cap on the damage. Now, models with a ton of low-value attacks are in far lesser peril of nuking themselves with an unlucky roll than they were before. Six-attack fighters rejoice!”
On top of that massive change, there’s also changes to individual warbands, too. The Claws of Karanak, The Teratic Cohort, and Twistweald all got updates to name a few.
There’s loads more to be discovered in this update for Warcry players. So be sure to download it here and read it for yourself!
Where Are The Helsmiths of Hashut At?
Games Workshop is using this update to get ready for the next batch of miniatures coming. And yes, this Warband is for Warhammer: Underworlds, but the point is that the Helsmiths aren’t in this update. They are on the way to Warcry, however.
“Keen-eyed players will notice that the Null-Khemist, Vongrim Harpoon Crew, and Vongrim Salvagers have not made it into this update. Don’t worry, their time will come. You can also expect the new warbands from Warhammer Underworlds: Spitewood to make their debut on the table in the future. And as well as their Spitewood warband, more awaits from the Helsmiths of Hashut on the industry-choked horizon.”

So, yeah… they aren’t in the game yet. I just wanted to clarify that because the WarCom title was a little confusing to me. And I’m someone who has to keep up with them daily.
That was the headline and taken in concert with the second paragraph of their article, I was a little confused when I didn’t see any rules in the update for the Helsmiths of Hashut.
I thought perhaps I just missed them. But no, there’s no Helsmiths in this update. In fact, there’s no other Warband rules updates on their page either:
You can see the screen shot above of their warband rules page. Most of these haven’t been updated in almost a year. Anyhow, the point is the Helsmiths of Hashut are on the way — but not here. Yet.
We’ll update this is we end up getting those Helsmith Rules by the end of the day.
