We’ve got the new IG Assassin Droids for Star Wars: Legion unboxed and built. They are ready to take on all bounties on the tabletop!
The IG Assassin Droids are on their way to the tabletops for Star Wars: Legion. Atomic Mass Games sent me a review copy so I’m going to take you through this box and also go over the miniatures, too. It’s time to go bounty hunting with these Assassin Droids!
IG Assassin Droids Unboxed
There’s a lot of members of the IG family. The most famous of them is probably IG-88. I like how a short cameo spawned more screen time (mostly in video games) and a massive mythos later. But I’m not here to cover all that. We’ve got new miniature to check out!
Inside the box, you’ve got the typical AMG packaging — which is to say the sprues are in one bag while the cards are in another. There’s a full play set of cards for each supported language and some double-sided tokens for game play.
Here’s a quick spread of the cards. If you’re looking for an even better look at the cards, AMG has them all posted on the product page. I just wanted to put these here for completeness sake.
There’s two IG models included in the cards: IG-11 and IG-88. What’s interesting is that you can really go nuts with the configurations. Take a look at the sprue to see what I mean.
Not only are there multiple arms with various blasters, there’s also a glaive! And the sprue comes with three distinct torsos, too. Honestly, there’s more arms, legs, and torsos than you need on this sprue. In fact, if you had another head and more feet bits, you could easily have built three IG droids with this kit. Oh, and you’d need an extra base. The point is kitbashers might end up with a bunch of extra bits. Considering the hodgepodge nature of the Star Wars aesthetic (I mean, they literally were just making up models and gluing “gribbles” on to plasti-card) this seems approriate! Now, on to the build!
IG Assassin Droids Up Close
As I mentioned, they can be built in a wide array of poses. You could just copy the front of the box (kind of like how I started to). Or you could start to experiment — which is what I did for the second miniature. As far as tips for building these I have a few. First up, the feet should slot in nicely with the leg pin. Don’t worry too much of they are flat as if you lined up the legs right they should support the miniature.
Secondly, I learned that the arms are kind of weird. While they are single pieces, you can pose them rather freely. You can have them pointing or rotated however you’d like. So I strongly suggest dry fitting them first. The same goes for the torsos. Those are almost free-spinning. That should allow loads of freedom for their final positioning.
The final thing I’ll cover is the head. Again, if we had gotten one more pair of head bits, we could have basically made 3 miniatures. Anyhow, I’m not entirely sure where the “front” of the head is to be honest. I just tried to follow the box and artwork for guidance.

Overall, it’s not an overly difficult build. The bits are a little on the thin side due to the miniature being, well, an IG series Assassin Droid. They aren’t exactly bulky to being with. Still, there’s loads of details and it seems like a pretty faithful representation of the character in miniature form.
You can order the IG Series Assassin Droid box for Star Wars: Legion now. It should be at your FLGS if you can’t get it online.
