The Horus Heresy is home to some of the deadliest weapons in the Imperium – many rolled out from the forges of Saturn.

The Forges of Saturn book for the Horus Heresy is coming out for pre-order next week. And that means it’s time to dig into all those wonderful toys. The Saturnine-pattern Terminators and Dreadnoughts came from somewhere, after all. And with the new book, a host of other miniatures, including an old-school assault squad, a super-heavy tank, and a batch of battle boxes. All this, next week!

Horus Heresy – The Forges Of Saturn

It all kicks off with the new Journa Tactica: The Forges of Saturn. This 48-page supplement delves into the lore of Saturnine technology and adds rules for three new units. You can outfit Centurions and Command Squads with Saturnine armor, Word Bearers get a new daemon Terminator, and the Thousand Sons get a new Prosperine Arcana. Of course, this is just the beginning.

Thundering onto the battlefields of the Horus Heresy comes the Fellblade Super-heavy Battle Tank now in a new plastic kit. Inside the kit, you’ll find the signature double-barrelled accelerator canon, as well as options for demolisher cannon, heavy bolters, lascannon arrays, laser destroyer, gravis heavy bolters, twin heavy flamer, and several pintle-mounted options including havoc launcher, heavy flamer, heavy bolter, or multi-melta.

Or get fast and furious with the old-school MkII Crusade-pattern Assault Squad. With turbine powered jump packs, these guys just look cool. You can use them in either Horus Heresy or as a regular assault squad in 40K. Each kit comes with bolt pistols, combat shields, power mauls, chainaxes, melta bmbs, disintegrator pistols, and other assault-y bits.

Then there’s a trio of battle boxes – again, all set in the Horus Heresy. Starting with the Legiones Astartes Combat Force, in which you can get your hands on some old-school Space Marine spiffiness. The kit contains a Leviathan Dreadnought with potent weapons, 20 Space Marines in MkVI power armor, a Rhino, and a heavy weapons upgrade set of 10 missile launchers and 10 heavy bolters, so you can build tactical squads or heavy support squads.

Or grab the Mechanicum Combat Force and show everyone the devastating might of your unstoppable robots. In this kit are 6 Thallax Cohort, 2 Castellax Battle-automata, and a mighty Thanatar Cavas Siega-automata with a Hellex-pattern plasma mortar.

Finally, the brave soldiers of the good ol’ Solar Auxilia come rolling out with a new Combat Force box as well. Inside you’ll find a 20-man Lasrifle Section, as well as a Tactical Command Section that can also be a Line Command Section or Legatine Marshal and retinue. You also get 2 Hermes Sentinels that can be built as Light or Veletaris variants. And backing all this up, the big gunsof a Solar Auxilia Leman Russ with Demolisher or Vanquisher Battle Cannon, depending on how long you like your barrel.
