Are these the new GW Holiday boxes? We are in October so maybe Games Workshop is just getting the word out now for these sets.
There are four new Age of Sigmar Battleforces coming. These are typically pretty great for getting a new army started. This year’s batches are also representative of each Grand Alliance as well. So let’s quit stalling at check out each one of these new Battleforces from GW.
New Age of Sigmar Holiday Battleforces
First up we have the Skaven Battleforce representing the Chaos Grand Alliance. This is the Skyre Warpswarm. In this battleforce we see a Arch-Warlock, 20 Stormvermin, a Ratling Warblaster, three Warplock Jezzails, five Acolyte Globadiers, and a Warpspark Weapon Battery (which has a trio of build options) to round things out. That’s quite a few rat-men to get your Skaven army started for sure!
For the Death Grand Alliance, we have Prince Vhordrai leading the charge this time. His Battleforce is fittingly called the Lances of the Crimson Keep. Inside of it, it’s him leading 10 Blood Knights and three Fell Bats. While that might not seem like much, considering he’s on his famed Revenant Draconith mount Shordemaire, it’s actually quite a potent package!.
Destruction is also bringing the beasties. Or Troggs in this case. The Dankhold Ramage is the Battleforce for the Destruction Grand Alliance. This one features Trugg, the Troggoth King leading a Dankhold Troggboss, six Rockgut Troggoths, and three Fellwater Troggoths. You can also just build the Troggboss as a regular Dankhold Troggoth as well. I’ve actually fought against a very similair Trogg list before and it’s a lot of threats to deal with.
And not to be out done, we have the Sylvaneth representing the Grand Alliance of Order. This one is called the Outcast Spitegrove. It’s got the legendary Drycha Hamadreth leading an array of units. There’s a Spirit of Durthu (which can also be build as many other Treelord options), 15 Spite-Revenants, and 20 Dryads as well. This is quite a mix of woodland spirits ready to defend their homelands from the invaders.
Personally, I really like both the Death and the Order boxes. Maybe I’m just partial to spirits and the undead. Or maybe it’s just that spooky time of year calling out to me. Either way, GW has said these will come in at a discount vs buying these kits individually. However, we’re going to have to wait and see when they actually launch. I know I’ll be looking for these when they come out officially!
