Games Workshop has announced seven new Battleforces on the way for Warhammer 40,000. There’s bound to be one for you!

It’s that time of the year where GW tosses out a bunch of great deals for Warhammer. Today they are showcasing the new Battleforce boxes for 40k and you can see them being used to launch a new army. So let’s take a quick look at each one.

“Each Battleforce box gets you the miniatures within at a lower price than buying them separately, and they will be available to pre-order later in the year.”

Emperor’s Children – Blissbound Warband

Contents

Fulgrim, Daemon Primarch of Slaanesh

6x Flawless Blades

6x  Noise Marines

Emperor’s Children transfer sheet

Here comes Fulgrim in all his Daemon Prince Primarch glory. This certainly feels like a great start to an Emperor’s Children list. You get the big man himself which is obviously the centerpiece miniature here. While there’s not a ton of support besides him, the EC aren’t slacking in the firepower or melee department. Not too shabby to add to an existing EC army.

Leagues of Votann – Cthonian Prospect

Contents

Brôkhyr Iron-master with Ironkin Assistant and three E-COGs

3x Brôkhyr Thunderkyn

2x Cthonian Earthshakers

10x Cthonian Beserks

Kapricus Defender/Carrier

2x Leagues of Votann transfer sheets

If you’re an aspiring Leagues of Votann Player this Battleforce looks solid. You’ve got a wide array of units to add and most of your basics are covered. I could see this being the core of a new army or expanding from a Combat Patrol very easily.

Tyranids – Crusher Stampede

Contents

Neurotyrant with two Neuroloids

Screamer-Killer

Tyrannofex/Tervigon

Haruspex/Exocrine

Maleceptor/Toxicrene

Do you need a bunch of big bugs in your collection? Of course you do. Here we have a pack designed to bring you exactly that! If you’re playing Tyranids and asking “where’s the beef?” it’s in this box!

T’au – Farsight Cadre

Contents

Commander Farsight

Riptide Battlesuit

Broadside Battlesuit

3x Crisis Battlesuits

8x Drones

T’au Infantry transfer sheet

This feels like Commander Farsight’s “The Eight” but short two members. Anyhow, that’s probably intentional as you could just expand that way. That said this is a solid start to a Farsight Enclave force — if you want to play that. You can’t really go wrong with Commander Farsight and bunch of Battlesuits!

Space Marines – Iron Halo Strike Force

Contents

Captain with Company Heroes

5x Sternguard Veterans

5x Hellblasters

Ballistus Dreadnought

Redemptor Dreadnought

New Space Marine heads kit

2x Space Marine transfer sheets

2x Space Marine vehicle transfer sheets

I think GW is really looking to push Space Marines this season. We’re getting the Crux Terminatus Battleforce, a new Ultramarine Combat Patrol, and now a new Space Marine Battleforce. And sure the Battlefroce could be considered more “generic” than the other options. I still think this is a good pick-up for anyone looking to expand or start a Space Marine army though.

Chaos Space Marines – Hellforged Warband

Contents

Lord Discordant

Venomcrawler

2x Obliterators

5x Havocs

10x Legionaries

Chaos Rhino

2x Chaos Space Marine transfer sheets

This Battleforce sure seems awfully familiar. Maybe because it’s a rehashing of the Chaos Space Marine Start Collecting! Box from 2019. Or maybe because it’s basically the Shadowspear set, with some swaps. I’m not complaining btw, I’m just pointing out some similarities. The Lord Discordant is a nice touch though. Also: New Chaos Mutilators when?!

Astra Militarum – Krieg Siege Platoon

Contents

Lord Commissar with a Krieg Command Squad

20x Death Korps of Krieg troopers

Combat Engineer Squad (5 Engineers plus remote mine)

2x Artillery Teams

Death Korps of Krieg transfer sheet

The Death Korps are back with a new Battleforce, too! This also seems like a great addition to the Combat Patrol. Well, maybe. You do get the Krieg Command Squad again. I’m sure you’ll find a use for two of them if you got this and the Combat Patrol. Honestly, it’s probably a good deal either way. I’ll be running the numbers later to find out. Regardless this seems tailor made for Krieg Fans to finally get this army going properly!
