The Ultramarines are getting new units and there’s a new batch of Space Marine Terminators on the way, too! Let’s get up close with them.
If you’ve been following our coverage then you know that the Space Marines and in particular the Ultramarines are getting reinforcements. Well, we’ve got them in the studio and our very own Goatboy has built them. Let’s see how different/updated these miniature really are!
Assault Terminators
Above are just two examples and from the looks of things, yeah, they are different…but it’s kind of subtle. The poses are more open and dynamic, sure. And they are in the larger scale (think of the new regular Terminators). But, for the most part, they kind of blend in with the old versions. I don’t think that’s a bad thing for folks who have a ton of old Assault Marines. That just means your current minis are still good. But, the new ones do look better with the larger size, imo.
That said, Terminator armor is pretty classic looking and these versions still adhere to those standards. There’s just slightly more of them now in terms of size. Speaking of more size…
The Terminator Ancient is also here, too. This one does look pretty epic so I’ve got no complaints here. This miniature does have 4 total head options to work with, too. I’m also glad that it’s generic enough that you could really paint this one up as (almost) any chapter. I’m not 100% sure, but you should also be able to do head swaps with other marines or even swap out the banner for another one if you’ve got a particular one you like. It’s a neat miniature. And about that banner…
Vicitrix Honour Guard
The Victrix Honour Guard is a neat set of marines. They are pretty ornate (for marines) and the Banner of Macragge is a sight to behold. It has a LOT of details going on. As far as the rest of the unit, I like the detailing on all the miniatures, too. It’s certainly a throwback to the old metal miniatures. Also, don’t forget you can build these guys with different loadouts as there’s multiple ways to run the squad.
The box has build options for all of those things. But there is only three in the box so if you want the full 6, you’ll need to get a second one.
Cato Sicarius
Cato Sicarius is back with a new plastic miniature. he’s got that classic helmet and Talassarian tempest blade. I do find it funny that he’s not actually wearing the helmet into battle. But I guess he’s just that confident (or something). He does have two different head options to work with as well. I also appreciate the Roman Legion vibes he brings with him.

And finally, we get to the big man himself. Marneus Calgar is back in Terminator Armor as well. Well, technically, it’s the Armour of Antilochus but yeah…he’s back in black blue and we’ve got full circle again. Honestly, I do like this miniature. I just am still scratching my head as to why we’re getting this one over the Gravis Armor one we had. “Because it’s Terminator Armor” is really the only reason I can think of. Still, it’s loaded with details and Calgar is still a terrifying enemy to square off against. So snag him this weekend if you’re a big Ultramarines fan!
