The Kill Team Balance is out today and it’s look to bring up the weaker teams and tamp down on the top teams.
The balancing act continues for Kill Team and Games Workshop has a new update out. Looking to tweak things in the meta a bit there are a changes coming to help even things up a bit. Let’s get into what’s changed for Kill Team!
“Kill Team has seen incredible change recently. Killzone: Tomb World and Approved Ops 2025 have provided players with many new experiences while playing competitively. These changes keep coming with this new balance update! While the meta is still shifting to accommodate the new Approved Ops, there were still some teams that were overperforming – or underperforming – in win rates or making it to podiums, which we’ve addressed here. “

Kill Team Quarterly Balance Update October 2025
If you can’t tell from the image above, there’s been a lot of changes. And that’s just the top 1/2 of them above. The main point here is that if you’ve been playing Kill Team, you should 100% check to see if you’re team got any major changes. Below is a summary of a most of the ones mentioned in the WarCom article. But there’s probably even more. So check on your Kill Team!
- Universal Change – Smoke Grenade Universal Equipment: now only reduce the effectiveness of the Piercing 2 weapon rule to Piercing 1.
- Angels of Death – Additional changes to improve Chapter Tactics.
- Kasrkin – Firefight Ploys improved; better threats, reduced requirements, or better function for Approved Ops 2025.
- Scout Squad – Updated multiple Ploys for better use.
- Canoptek Cricle & Deathwatch – brought in line with the current version of the game (ie, toned down quite a bit); reduced healing, damage reduction, and limits on 4 APL activations.
- Warpcoven – reduced Operative Count by 1; Tzaangors still available for higher activation counts.
- Sanctifiers – Ministorum Sermon only applies to higher level attacks (nerf), individual Operatives have also received updates to reduce “individual Operative quality” (nerf).
- Hierotek Circle – Now count as a smaller Kill Team for the purposes of a Kill Op. Reworked scoring points on them.
Again, this is just a short recap of the changes. You should read the full article for more details on these changes. And just to reiterate, there’s obviously even more changes as you can see from the download section.
Overall, these changes do sound like GW is attempting to keep things balanced. Bringing some of the lower performing Kill Team up and tweaking the top teams to be more manageable for everyone else to deal with seems like a good call. We’ll have to see if these changes make an impact.
See you on the Tomb World!
