Wizards of the Coast crowned Seth Manfield the 2025 Magic World Champion at their 31st World Championship event in Bellevue, Washington that took place from December 5-7, 2025.

Manfield, playing the new Izzet Lessons deck, faced a mirror match in the finals against Akira Shibata’s version of the deck. The Magic Hall of Famer defeated Shibata in three games to become the third player in history to win the Magic World Championship twice. Javier Dominguez and Shahar Shenhar are the other two players that have also won World’s twice; no one has managed to become a three-time champion to date.

The Top 8, which was played in the Standard constructed format, was dominated by the Izzet Lessons deck; seven of the eight decks in the Quarterfinals featured Blue and Red color combinations. Avatar: The Last Airbender cards featured in Izzet Lessons were Gran Gran, Boomerang Basics, and Accumulate Wisdom (all uncommon cards). In the Temur decks (Red/Blue/Green), the highly-touted (as well as highly-priced) Badgermole Cub was used to some effectiveness.
