The C’tan Shard of the Nightbringer is coming soon and it’s bringing death and destruction to the tabletop in Warhammer 40,000!
Games Workshop has been dropping teasers for the Nightbringer’s arrival. Well now we have our first look at the new rules. The Nightbringer is going to be a killer up close! On top of that we also get a look at the new rules for Nekrosor Ammentar as well. These Necrons are looking to make some moves against the Ultramarines in the 500 Worlds!
The C’tan Shard of the Nightbringer has seen a bunch of its characteristics increased to account for its larger, more impressive miniature, so that it moves faster and soaks up more damage than before.
The Nightbringer’s New Rules
Kicking things off we’ve got to start with the Nightbringer’s new statline. You can see the boosted characteristics above. The Nightbringer is going to be flying across the tabletop with a fury. On top of that it’s going to be even harder to kill than before. I just want to point out the 16 wounds backed up by a 3+/4++ as well as a FNP of 5+, too. If you’re going to hit the Nightbringer you better bring your big damage guns with high AP. Necrodermis also reduces the damage of attacks by 1 as well.
This new version of the Nightbringer isn’t just tougher but it packs quite the offensive punch — specifically in close combat. While it’s Gaze of Death is no slouch at range, you can see from above that the Nightbringer really wants to use that Scythe. It’s got the dual profiles of Striking or Sweeping depending on how you want to use it. For single, heavily armored targets the Strike is the best option. It has a max damage potential of 48 if you roll all 6s on damage. The Sweep is great against the masses with it’s 14 attacks that each do 2 damage. You’ll be cutting down squads of Space Marines with that attack!
That said, the Nightbringer isn’t alone in this release. He’s got some handy back-up from the Destroyer Cult…
Nekrosor Ammentar Rules
Another Epic Hero for the Necrons the Nekrosor Ammentar is a brutal killing machine. It’s got a beefy profile which is handy since it can’t exactly join a squad to hide in. Then again, it does have Lone Operative so it’s not exactly a free target either. Ranged Weapon-wise it’s got a decent pistol attack for plinking downrange. But you really want to get the Nekrosor into close combat where it’s Fights First rule can kick in with those deadly melee attacks.
Also, Nekrosor Ammentar has some really good utility. With the Nullstone Field Generator it can help with mortal wounds and Psychic Attacks. It’s a 5+ FNP which is better than nothing against those attacks! It’s also got Infectious Murder-madness which gives friendly Necrons Sustained Hits 1 if they are Destroyer Cult or attacking the closest enemy. The Nekrosor also helps other Destroyer Cult members out with it’s Prophet of Destruction ability, too. This is re-roll of 1s for Wound Rolls which is always helpful!
The Rest of the 500 Worlds Rules Coming Soon
So where can you find the rest of these rules and updates from? The Necrons are going to receive a Faction Pack update soon. Plus the upcoming 500 Worlds books will have them, too.
