Heritage Auctions will place a sealed box of Fallen Empires and a sealed box of Homelands on the block at their February 5, 2026 Sealed Booster Boxes TCG Showcase.
The latest upcoming Heritage auction may be a test of whether or not time heals all wounds for all Magic: The Gathering products. Fallen Empires and Homelands are noted by fans as two of the worst sets Wizards of the Coast has ever produced in the history of Magic: The Gathering. Fallen Empires was poorly collated train wreck, where fans that opened the eight-card packs weren’t even guaranteed to get a rare card out of a pack. Homelands is often cited by critics as the worst Magic set; it was so poorly received by fans after release that WotC actually ended up giving away entire sealed boxes of that set away for free to attendees at summer conventions in 1996.
Fast forward to 2026, sealed boxes of these sets are apparently selling for around $450 to $550 a piece, according to recent TCGplayer sales. While the cards in these sets haven’t really gained too much value over time (neither set has a single card worth over $20; most of the cards in these sets can be acquired for spare change), as sealed products, they hold value for collectors looking to complete a collection of Magic sealed boxes from 1993 to 2026. Each box is currently pre-bidding on Heritage at $155 apiece.
