Mantic Games is expanding it’s Digital Offerings and launching a new Print-On-Demand service from their Webstore!

For a while now Mantic Games has been running a Digital Store. This allows customers to purchase miniatures from Mantic’s STL Library in the form of monthly packs. Now, they are making some big changes to their Digital Store. You’ll still be able to get STLs from their library but now you’ll be able to get individuals or theme packs. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg because Print-On-Demand is also coming soon.

We are moving the content previously delivered by monthly packs into its own dedicated store front – so if you want the new Salamander army (and why wouldn’t you!) for Kings of War, or to dive (see what I did there) into Armada or Deadzone with your friends, then these will all be easily accessed and you will be able to browse the range – from single STL files, through to MEGA all-in-one clicks which can give you immediate access to whole games systems (yes Epic, I am looking at you!).

Mantic’s Digital Store Membership Updates

With 34 over months worth of content packs I can understand why they would want to change things up. This new format should make it a lot easier to find exactly what you’re looking for and purchase those files. On top of these changes Mantic is also updating their Membership Options for New Customers:

  • Companion – £4.50 (from £3.99) – this grants access to the complete rules and unlimited army lists for any single Mantic Game.  (Previously this was our Bronze or Silver Tier)
  • Club Mantic – £7.50 – (from £5.99) – this grants access to the complete rules and unlimited army lists for ALL Mantic own IP Games. (Previously this was our Gold Tier)
  • Vault Only – £9.99 – (No Change) – This grants access to the monthly STL releases of that month.  Any previous discount will be honoured, and so our Earlybird supporters will retain any discount they had before.  This tier will not grant the 12 month free models.
  • Fanatic – £15.00 – the combined Vault and Companion level. This will have new monthly sculpts provided via the Vault, and access to Mantic’s own IP games systems and unlimited army lists…and some cool new benefits. This will be for new customers from April 1st who want everything.

New Single STL File Purchases

Let’s say you just want one particular miniature. Maybe you missed out on it or you just wanted to test out a few before you dive all the way in. Well, good news, Mantic is going to have new single STL File purchase options.

[Mantic’s] Digital Store is going live –you can now start buying single units, characters or special bundles to start your journey into our worlds.  We’re starting off with the first 4 Epic Warpath factions and Salamanders for Kings of War.

Over the next few weeks will be regularly adding more units and files from the extensive back catalogue, offering ever increasing choice and modelling options.  Our intention her eis to complete the switch over by the end of February, so that everything is available for all.

You don’t need a subscription if you’re just looking to snag a file, you can just go to their store and buy it now. Additionally, Mantic is also offering new Themed Packs. These will be curated collections that are based around specific factions/armies/terrain/etc. Think of them as one-click purchases for entire sets. You can see those vault packs here.

Print-On-Demand From Mantic Games

Now if you’re thinking “this is neat and all…but I don’t have a 3D printer.” Well Mantic has some better news for you. They are going to be offering Print-On-Demand for miniatures in the vault!

Soon, selected Vault designs will be available as printed models through the main Mantic Games webstore. This bridges the gap between digital and physical, letting players enjoy Vault content without needing hardware, slicers, or resin.

We’re kicking that off this week with the Salamanders Champion set complete with a free set of print at home rules (you will need a 2D printer for that…), then in February all the single units to complete the Salamander army.

Honestly, I’m surprised it’s taken this long for this to become a thing. Sure, there’s been loads of 3rd party print services, but Mantic is taking that aspect of 3D printing and making a big part of this business. This is great news for people that might not have access to 3D printers.

Being able to just order the specific miniature you want direct from the manufacturer isn’t new. However, the fact that they are going to 3D print it on demand means they don’t have to keep a ton of stuff in stock either. They can just fire up the printer and ship it. This seems like a win-win.

My man concern is the lead times on prints. I’m sure Mantic is taking all that into consideration as well. Hopefully this all goes super smooth!
