The Old World has a new Balance Update out now. It’s not as impactful as the last one but that doesn’t mean it’s not important!
Games Workshop has released a new Balance Update for The Old World today. This time around they didn’t go with any massive, large scale revisions like the last one. However, there’s still plenty of changes happening. So let’s get into a few of those updated rules!
In this update, we’ve deliberately avoided making any large revisions to the game or to any of the armies. The last update made some significant changes that players are still adapting their tactics around, and we don’t foresee another errata of that scale for a while, if at all. Instead, our intention with this update was to answer your most pressing questions and to make a number of tweaks to clarify some areas of confusion, both in the core rules and across all of the armies of the Old World.
The Old World Balance Update
The Armies of Grand Cathay got a good look from the Rule Team this time around. The big callouts here are the change to the Ogre Loader, lots of tweaks to the points and effects of magic items, and Sky Lanterns getting their survivability reduced.
And speaking of points changes, there’s been a bunch of changes to various armies. You might want to check both your Ravening Hordes and Forces of Fantasy for points tweaks now.
This includes improving the Leadership of Empire Priests of both Sigmar and Ulric, making them better leaders and making it easier for them to chant prayers, as well as tweaking the profiles or altering the points of a number of models across other factions.
Games Workshop has also commited to continuing to update profiles, adjust points, and tweak special rules to improve the balance of The Old World. Many of those changes are based on player feedback and the data they collect from Tournaments.
One last thing to check out for Old World players is the updated Core Rules. Again, there’s not a massive list of updates but there’s plenty in there to warrant a quick read from active players. Just keep an eye out for the magenta text.
Sorry if you were planning to dominate with Sky Lanterns…
