The nation is in a deep freeze, but showbiz news is warming up. Time for a round-up!
Apple TV has picked up the rights to Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere books, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They plan to adapt the Mistborn series for feature films, and The Stormlight Archive series for television with heavy input and control by Sanderson. Both of these series of books have been fairly prolific as IPs in the games space over the last few years (see “‘Cosmere RPG’ Passes $11 Million” and also, “‘Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game’“).
Netflix will distribute the new Gundam live-action film, according to Deadline. This film, by Legendary, will be directed by Sweet Tooth’s Jim Mickle and stars Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo (see ” ‘Gundam’ Casting“).
Marvel Entertainment released a teaser trailer for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 (see below). The second season will begin streaming on Disney+ on March 24, 2026 (see “‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Renewed“).
Prime Video announced cast members for their God of War streaming series, according to Variety. This series, written and executive produced by showrunner Ronald D. Moore (see “Ronald D. Moore’s Next Show“), stars Olaf Darri Olafsson (Thor), Ryan Hurst (Kratos), Max Parker (Heimdall), Teresa Palmer (Sif), Mandy Patinkin (Odin), Alastair Duncan (Mimir), Danny Woodburn (Brok) and Jeff Gulka (Sindri). The series will Follow Kratos and his son Atreus as they undertake a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. God of War has a two-season order.
The Exorcism at 1600 Penn will be adapted into a feature by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, according to Deadline. This comic series, created by Hannah Rose May and illustrated by Vanesa Del Rey, was an IDW Publishing original published in 2024. There is a sequel series coming from IDW in March 2026, The Exorcism at Buckingham Palace #1 (see “New Horror Titles“).
Prime Video has optioned Sex Criminals for an eight-episode series. The comic series, created by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky, was originally released in 2013. It was banned on the Apple iOS store in November of that year (see “Apple Takes Down ‘Sex Criminals’ #1“), but also selected as one of Time’s best comics of 2013 in December (see “Best Comics of 2013“). It later won an Eisner in 2014 for Best New Series (see “2014 Eisner Award Winners“).
