This massive LEGO Battlestar Galactica includes thousands of pieces and is the last hope of the Twelve Colonies.
Battlestar Galactica is one of the best sci-fi TV shows out there. Much of the show revolves around the titular Battlestar Galactica herself. Galactica (BSG-75) is a massive, though somewhat outdated warship. When the Twelve Colonies are attacked by the robotic Cylons, Galatica’s very age saves her and allows her to lead a ragtag fleet of ships on an epic quest to save humanity.
Battlestar Galactica was a Jupiter-class battleship. These were the original Battlestars, first put into service midway through the 1st Cylon War. Like all original Jupiter-class vessels, Galactica comes in at 1,438.64 meters long, 183.32 meters high, and 536.84 meters wide. Room enough to house a crew of up to 5000 comfortably, though for most of her life, Galactica carried a crew of around 2700 souls. She also carries a wide armament of weapons and small attack craft to launch.
BSG-75 is also cool enough to get her own theme song!
LEGO BSG-75
Now you know we love a good big LEGO spaceship, and thanks to builder Brandon Griffith (who you can find here and here) we have a pretty great LEGO version of the Battlestar Galactica aka BSG-75. This is a really cool and massive build of the outside of the ship. It’s chock full of cool details and really brings the epic ship to life.
The build contains around 29,000 pieces and took about 300 hours to complete. It’s built at a 1:2110 scale (Brandon says this in an interview at least) and measures 47″ long and 18″ wide. The engines of the ship have lights, and its also got some cool custom printing on it. While it doesn’t have an interior the exterior is very accurate and faithful to the show. This is overall just a really, really great looking build.

Start Your Own Fleet
Now yes, you sadly can’t buy an official BSG-75 for LEGO (yet). But if you want some cool sci-fi ships to build and display they totally have you covered. A great option is the starship scale Home One from their Star Wars line. Not only is this a cool build and displays well, but… it kind of looks like the BSG and has a similar fleet role. So its about as close as you can get!

Abe is that rare thing, an Austin local born and raised here. Though he keeps on moving around, DC, Japan, ETC., he always seems to find his way back eventually. Abe has decades of experience with a wide range of tabletop and RPG games, from historicals, to Star Wars to D&D and 40K. He has been contributing to BOLS since almost the start, back when he worked at and then owned a local gaming store. He used to be big into the competitive Warhammer tournament scene but age has mellowed him and he now appreciates a good casual match. He currently covers Warhammer: The Old World, as well as all things Star Wars, with occasional dabbling in other topics. Abe mourned over loss of WFB for its entire hiatus, but has been reborn like a gaming phoenix with Warhammer: The Old World.
