The Trees are alive and marching to war! The Sylvaneth are coming to the tabletop with a new Battletome for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar!
When the Sylvaneth come to the tabletop they bring the trees. With the new Battletome those same trees are about to cause more problems for the enemy, too. It’s time to get your hands on some of the Awakened Wyldwoods once again because they are going to spread that Creeping Overgrowth.
The Sylvaneth battletome introduces a new battle trait, which proves just how deadly trees can be. That sense of creeping dread your opponent feels isn’t just in their head – the overgrowth really is moving.
New Sylvaneth Army Rules
First up, the new army rule is Creeping Overgrowth. This battle trait allows for the Sylvaneth to slowly take over the entire board with Creeping Overgrowth. The Sylvaneth’s main way of generating these tokens are the Awakened Wyldwoods. Note that the range on the Creeping Overgrowth increases the more tokens there are with 9+ tokens meaning the entire battlefield is covered.
Above you can see how you can spread these Overgowth Tokens. But by now, you’re probably wondering “why do you need to and what do those do?” Good questions. They allow for more forest-based shenanigans to ensue. For starters, they can allow the Sylvaneth to heal the damage done by the enemy.
So just for being within a Creeping Overgrowth, Sylvaneth units get to heal wounds. Suddenly taking and holding terrain is going to be really important if you want to fend off the Sylvaneth’s seemingly endless advance. But even if there’s not a bunch of terrain on the tabletop, the Sylvaneth can always make more…
Again, each Awakened Wyldwood ALSO gets a token and helps to spread the Creeping Overgrowth. I think you can see how this feedback loop works. And it’s not just healing that the overgrowth brings either. Enemy units are going to get tangled up and dragged down in it, too.
Suddenly the cost of your commands is going to increase just for being in range of a terrain feature. And again, there’s even more the Sylvaneth can do with all that creeping overgrowth. It just takes a little prayer or two.
“Free” damage to the enemy and more rend for the Sylvaneth? Yeah…and you know that’s not all they are packing either. It might be time to pack a lawn mower and some weed killer if you’re planning on taking on the Sylvaneth. They aren’t THAT slow growing with the new Battletome.
The trees are alive …more so than usual!
