Games Workshop is showcasing the new Army of Renown for the Sylvaneth. Are you ready for the Soulpod Guardians?

The Grove Guardian is the new character joining the forest spirits of the Sylvaneth army. With her arrival we’re also getting a new Army of Renown that’s really centered around her and a handful of other units. So let’s see what the new Grove Guardian is bringing to the fight.

The Grove Guardian herself works best with other Revenants and tree-spirits who protect the soulpod groves – and, as a Priest, she can also chant the Regenesis prayer to keep her fellows hale and hearty. Should any fall to enemy blades, however, she feels such anguish at their deaths that her heart-freezing Soulshriek scream can slay the attackers outright.

Not only is she going to allow you to heal your units she’s also going to make the enemy pay for taking them out in the first place. Imagine running her with the hearty units like the Spiterider Lancers who have five wounds each. That’s more chances to cause “free” mortal wounds to the enemy!

Soulpod Guardians Army of Renown

While the Grove Guardian great to support units she really shines when you put her in the new Soulpod Guardians Army of Renown. This is an army made from Grove Guardians, Branchwyches, and units with the Revenant keyword. You’ll be trading off unit flexibility for a new set of options. For example the Soulpod Grove rule which is made from Awakened Wyldwoods.

Now you might be thinking “well then my enemies will just attack the grove.” Yes, that’s an option. But if they do they are going to pay dearly for it…

That’s a flat +2 attacks per model that has the Soulpod Guardians keyword. That seems like quite the trade! And it’s not like those units weren’t already tossing out a solid number of attacks already. The new Soulpod Guardians Army of Renown is going to be able to weather the storm and then return the favor. If you want to be able to castle up and then hit back with a strong counter-attack this might be the army for you!

Seems like the Forest Spirits are angry…
