The Legio Custodes are getting another round of reinforcements. Let’s take a look at the Venatari and Coronus coming soon!
We got a look at the majority of the new units coming to the tabletop for the Legio Custodes previously. Today, we’ve got a couple of straggler units to check out. The Venatari Sodality are a “winged” unit of Custodes. And by “winged” it really just means jump pack troop. Sure, they have wings modeled on them, too. However I wonder if those are more for the visual than for a practical effect.
The other unit is the new plastic version of the Coronus Grav-carrier. Nothing else can get your Legio Custodes in to the fray quite like this massive transport. While the Land Raiders might come close, they don’t have the same anti-grav style as the Coronus! So let’s quit stalling and take a look at these units.
Venatari Sodality
The Venatari come with either a verutum lance for melee or with a kinetic destroyer paired with a tarsus buckler. Goatboy built these to show them off with the two options. I do like the amount of details on the Legio Custodes in general and these are just as ornate as you’d expect.
While I’m also glad that GW moved away from flight stands I do find it funny that each of these Venatari are leaping off a tactical rock of some kind. It’s not a complaint so much as an observation. But it’s a similar observation I had with the Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs for 40k.
Coronus Grav-carrier
The Coronus Grav-carrier is, well, BIG. I mean I knew the kit was going to be large but this was a lot more than I was expecting. I’ll have to bug Goatboy to get the actual dimensions but, honestly? This thing looks like a pair of foot long hotdogs. But plastic. And with Horus Heresy weapons on top.
I know that’s mostly a factor of the angle of the last photo but still. I suppose that’s what happens when you’ve got grav-tech and want to show off how much better you are than a Space Marine. Leave it to the Emperor’s actual golden children to one-up everyone else.
I’m never looking at a hotdog the same again…
