Atomic Mass Games has put out the rules for Baylan Skoll for Star Wars: Shatterpoint. Unrelenting with Hunker tokens bringing the pressure!

It’s a real bummer that Baylan Skoll’s original actor passed away way too soon. Ray Stevenson really brought that a sense of unshakable determination to the character. And without being reckless! I think those things were translated to the tabletop very well with the rules for Baylan Skoll in Star Wars: Shatterpoint. But let’s see how they stack-up.

Few figures in STAR WARS carry themselves with the same quiet gravity as Baylan Skoll. A former Jedi turned mercenary philosopher, Baylan walks a deliberate path shaped by regret, ambition, and an unshakable belief that the galaxy must be broken to be remade. In STAR WARS: Shatterpoint, that worldview is etched directly into his mechanics. Baylan is not a reckless aggressor. He is a patient force of inevitability.

Baylan Skoll Rules

Baylan is a Primary Unit who brings 7 Squad Points with him. He’s got an impressive 10 stamina and 3 durability. He’s a bear of tank! What helps with that is his abilities that generate Hunker tokens. Now, if you need a quick reminder of what those tokens do, here’s the rules for context:

Essentially, Hunker Tokens give you cover. That can make you more difficult to take out from range. On top of that, for Baylan in particular, he can generate, keep, and spend them almost like a new currency.

Not only does Baylan get a a bonus dash thanks to his Force-Enhanced Dexterity, but he can use that twice. As you can also see above, he’s got multiple ways to generate Hunker Tokens, too. So what does he do with them? He can use them with his One Must Destroy in Order to Create ability.  Baylan can spend Hunker Tokens to add dice to his attack rolls. That could really end up pushing the damage curve WAY up.

He’s tough to shoot down and once he gets into combat all that patient determination turns into a flurry of unleashed power. That seems pretty accurate to the character to me!

Baylan also comes with two different forms for his stances. These two stances portray two different modes of Baylan’s thinking as well. Form V is all about raw damage and power. If you go that route, you’re aiming to really burst down the target with those extra dice from the Hunker Tokens. It’s kind of like a controlled explosive. Controlled…right up until it’s explosive.

Form VI is more of a balanced approach. There’s more flexibility it this one with better defense in Melee and it’s just got more “tricks” to maintain control. It certainly seems like the option you’d go with if you were still coiled up on the defense or were looking to maintain objective pressure for points.

Pre-orders out now for Baylan’s squad box. It’s slated for a release date of May 22, 2026. He might not be a Jedi any longer but that doesn’t mean he forgot all he knew either!

After surviving the Jedi Purge of Order 66, Baylan Skoll became a callous mercenary. Now working for Morgan Elsbeth, Baylan and his apprentice Shin Hati, a powerful Force user herself, are searching for Admiral Thrawn. Their mission has led Baylan, Shin, and their deadly HK assassin droids into numerous conflicts across the galaxy.
