Trading card collectables have taken centre stage as auction house Goldin opened its 2026 Summer Goldin 100 auction on 19 August 2026. Running online through 19 September 2026, the sale showcases 100 curated lots that place vintage tabletop gaming treasures directly alongside high-end pop culture and sports memorabilia.

Leading the gaming lots is a 1993 Magic: The Gathering Limited Edition Alpha Black Lotus graded PSA GEM MT 10. Recorded as one of only three copies at this top grade on PSA’s population census, the card features the iconic original illustration by the late fantasy artist Christopher Rush. Regarded as the defining power card from the game’s initial release, top-grade Alpha copies rarely appear on the open market.
Sitting alongside the Black Lotus is an original 1998 Pokémon Japanese CoroCoro Comic Promo Holo Illustrator Pikachu card graded CGC Mint 9. Illustrated by character designer Atsuko Nishida, the card was originally distributed exclusively to winners of art contests run by the Japanese magazine CoroCoro Comic in the late 1990s. The card remains one of the most sought-after printed collectables in the hobby.
Founded by Ken Goldin in 2012 and now operating as an eBay subsidiary, the auction house has framed these trading card cornerstones as premier alternative assets. While the wider catalogue features match-worn sports kit from athletes such as Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James, the prominent positioning of Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon lots highlights ongoing market appetite for museum-grade tabletop history.
Regular bidding for the 2026 Summer Goldin 100 Auction remains open until Wednesday, 19 September 2026, with extended bidding starting at 10 PM ET.
