What to expect from Descent Into Darkness
Underworld: Descent into Darkness is a complete adventure path featuring 10 connected adventures that take characters from level 1 to 12.
Two intertwined stories guide the party through the depths. The first half follows the trail of an ancient dwarven explorer, who searched for a legendary artifact hidden in the mysterious Vault of the World—an artifact said to be powerful enough to kill a dragon.
The second half begins with a Cave Dragon Sovereign whose insatiable hunger has transformed into an obsession with treasure. He has sent his dragonborn and kobold minions throughout the Underworld to claim its greatest treasures for his hoard.
As the two stories collide, the heroes must uncover the truth behind the explorer’s journey and rally the Underworld’s factions against the Dragon Sovereign.
The PC’s journey takes them through Azer lava forges, mushroom forests, crystal caves, the Market of Broken Things, Drow and Dwarven strongholds, and a city under siege before finally descending into the farthest depths to confront the Cave Dragon Sovereign. And the choices your players make along the way can shape how difficult that final confrontation will be.

The Underworld Survivor’s Kit pairs perfectly with Descent into Darkness, giving GMs a collection of physical tools designed to bring the adventure to life at the table.
