Engine Issue 4

Available Now!

If you’re a fan of any of the Adventure Game Engine (AGE) games, such as Fantasy AGE, Modern AGE, Cthulhu Awakens, and Blue Rose, you should give Engine magazine a look. Each issue of Engine includes new material for AGE games, from creatures to short scenarios.

Now we’re on Engine #4: the Worlds issue. This issue spotlights the settings and lore of various AGE games, but of course there’s plenty of crunch to be had, in the form of new character options, creatures, and other features. Here’s what we have for you.

The Temps, Part One: The first part of a serialized novella set in the world of Threefold, the multi-world setting for Modern AGE, by Threefold creator Malcolm Sheppard (that’s me) and screenwriter Chris Jones-Hansen.

Rezean Ways: The culture and character traits of the Rezeans, whose rhy-horses, humans, and others roam a nation of great plains in Aldea, the world of Blue Rose. This includes expanded rules to play these witches and nomads.

More Cults of the Mythos: Five new Mythos cults, adding to the set featured in Cults of the Mythos for the Cthulhu Awakens roleplaying game. Each cult includes distinct goals and capabilities.

Gnoles of the Stranger Shores: They’ve been around from Lord Dunsany through to classic fantasy RPGs. (Though their names might be spelled differently). Now Chris Pramas presents them as the sea-reaving pirate-cultists of Fantasy AGE, ready to make themselves known in Freeport and beyond.

Through Earth & Mist: Learn the secrets of the Earth-Deep, whose labyrinths provide an alternate route to other Shores: the numerous planes of the Fantasy AGE setting. This includes talents and specializations for those who dare the underground between worlds.

Fire & Black Sand: Return to Zarat, a new setting originally featured in Engine #3, where we debuted the streamlined SAGE system (for which a core rulebook is coming—soon!). This time we’ve provided a Fantasy AGE adaptation, including rules for the Volcano Arcana, fire cultists, and living obsidian creatures.

Pick it up on the Green Ronin Online Store or Drivethrurpg.com. And while you’re there, check out back issues of Engine! Now it’s time for me to start #5. . . .
