We know what’s in the Warhammer 40,000 battleforce boxes so it’s time to point these suckers out for the tabletop!
The 40k battleforces look like a good value — if you want to play these armies. However, I was wondering how far along each of these would get you on your way to a 2,000 point army list. So let’s point these battleforce boxes out. We’re basing these points on the current Munitorum Field Manual. So let’s dive in.
Quick note: We’re just pointing out the units themselves independent of any Detachment Enhancements or other options. And we’re basing them off the unit lists by GW and not the alternate options.
Adepta Sororitas Battleforce: Penitent Crusade Host
Ministorum Priest – 50
2x Penitent Engines – 150
9x Sisters Repentia and their Repentia Superior – 180
10x Arco-Flagellants – 150
2x Adepeta Sororitas Rhinos – 150
Points Total: 680 points
Imperial Knights Battleforce: Valourstrike Lance
Knight Paladin = 405
4x Armiger Helverins(140) = 560
Points Total: 965 points
Necrons Battleforce: Hypercrypt Legion
C’tan Shard of the Void Dragon = 290

Overlord with Translocation Shroud = 85
10x Triarch Praetorians = 200
10x Necron Warriors (100) w/3x Canoptek Scarab Swarms (40) = 140
Points Total: 715 points
T’au Empire Battleforce: Retaliation Cadre
Commander w/drone = 80
Riptide Battlesuit w/ two drones = 190
Ghostkeel Battlesuit w/ two drones = 160
Broadside Battlesuit w/ two drones = 90
Total Points: 520 points
Dark Angels Battleforce: Inner Circle Task Force
Lion El’Jonson = 285
Chaplain in Terminator armour = 75
6x Inner Circle Companions = 180
10x Deathwing Knights (250 per 5) w/ 2x Watchers in the Dark = 500
Total Points: 1040
So there you have it. Not all battleforce boxes are created equally — at least in terms of points. The Dark Angels are actually coming out on top with 1040 points in the box. The T’au battleforce only has 520 points but that’s just for the suits listed. Again, you could get a slightly different total depending on the Detachment Enhancements you opt for as well. I’d probably use these points as a baseline. You’ll certainly want to plan out what else to buy and how to build from there next.
Just based on the box art I thought the Knights were going to take the cake!
