A huge catalog of 3rd-party magic items landed on D&D Beyond today. Now you can add The Griffon’s Saddlebag: Book Two on D&D Beyond.
It is a big day for D&D Beyond. Not only did they unveil a new Unearthed Arcana, but today also marks the D&D Beyond debut of The Griffon’s Saddlebag: Book Two. Which is a huge get for The Griffon’s Saddlebag.
If you’re unfamiliar, The Griffon’s Saddlebag is a massive collection of magic items, created by a user also known as The Griffon’s Saddlebag. Hit Point Press publishes both volumes physically. But you can get Book Two of the Griffon’s Saddlebag on D&D Beyond as of today.
More Than 500 Magic Items, One Griffon’s Saddlebag: Book Two
If you want more crunch to cronch when it comes to magic items, there’s a lot to love about the Griffon’s Saddlebag. The magic items feel more magical, somehow. They’re more active, and give you more fun choices to play with.
Take, for instance, the Charged Rapier. It’s a +1 rapier that does 1d4 extra lightning damage and makes you resistant to lightning. Not bad. But on top of that, it also lets you transform into a bolt of lightning as you dash through your enemies, dealing lightning damage to everyone you pass through. There’s always a little something extra and cool with TGS.
But you get more than just a Dragon’s Hoard of new magic items. Sure, that’s the big draw. But this book is packed with tons of new stuff. Including:
- 2 new Playable Species – the Etherean (fey creatures from the Etheral) and the Geleton (a gel/ooze-covered skeleton)
- 12 new subclasses – one for each of the core classes
- Modular artifacts – artifacts that can come into play at all levels, not just high-level campaign ending ones
- 14 different setting options
We’ve come such a long way from the OGL controversy of last year. Which I mention only because The Griffon’s Saddlebag was one of the voices that confirmed a few things during the early days when WotC had yet to make a statement. Now the book is just a part of D&D Beyond, and hopefully at a much better deal, reaching a much wider audience. So whether you’re looking for a whole new setting, or just a few new magic items to throw at your players, consider The Griffon’s Saddlebag: Book Two.
Happy adventuring!
