Games Workshop has made a box of skulls before. But this new set is giving us all new battlefield trophies to play with.
Skulls and Warhammer go together like peanut butter and jelly. Skulls and other battlefield trophies are a great way to spice up your bases. Mix these in with your grass tuffs and mud effects to create a base that tells a story!
“There’s more to Warhammer 40,000 battlefields than artillery-blasted wastes with a sparse scattering of withered grass though, and with the brand new Battlefield Trophies kit you will be able to take your basing game to the next level.”
Battlefield Trophies
The box itself will come with 288 plastic base-topper bits across two frames. As you can see above there’s a TON of cool skulls and helmets to work with. There’s even a crushed Space Marine to add to a base!
“Everyone still loves a good skull, which is why there are over 150 skulls, including 55 damaged skulls, a pile of human skulls, mutated human skulls, T’au and Ork skulls, the skulls of birds, Gretchin, miscellaneous Genestealer cultists, and other stranger creatures. There is even a selection of Servo-skulls.”
Personally, I really appreciate the fact that GW has more than just Human Skulls for these bases. I’ve used spare heads from other Xenos spues before — like extra Tyranid bits. But now we’ve got full-on SKULLS for Orks, Genestealers, T’au, and more. This is going to be fantastic for piece out for bases on various armies in the game.
I know that the Kitbashers are going to LOVE this box of bits. But even if you’re not an expert, having access to all these various skulls and trophies will be useful. Plopping a skull or two on a base is a simple and easy addition. It adds some character to the base and that’s what we’re going for.
The Battlefield Trophies box is going on my wishlist for 2025 for sure. I know I may not have a plan for all those skulls immediately but I know they will get used for SOMETHING. If you’ve got any ideas feel free to share them in the comments section. Hobbyist are going to have a field day with this one.
