I stumbled upon this tissue box when I was looking to replace my existing one, which had started to fall apart. When I got it for my birthday, I just knew I had to repaint it.

The Good

This sculpt is gray and black, with a sliding door in the back to accommodate a cube-shaped tissue box. Overall, it’s about ten inches long, seven inches wide, and six inches high. The tissues come out of the dragon’s mouth, which are usually white—fitting for a white dragon’s icy breath, or as the description states, “the illusion of wispy smoke swirling around its mighty jaws.” It’s heavy too, which is intentional, as the tissues need to be pulled out of the mouth without the cover moving. It weighs just over 3 pounds.

The Bad

Although you could technically stand the dragon’s head upright on its base, the sculpt ends at its chin. Which means that any tissue box you use with it will be on its side. Because my office set up has an elevated shelf, this is perfect for me, but if the tissue box is somewhere that requires reaching down to get the tissues, this cover will be more of a hindrance.

For the most part the sculpt is good, but this has to be the dragon sculpt with the beadiest eyes ever. We all remember the disaster that was the Marshgate Castle Dragon Lamp (he’s goofy, but I love him). It’s clear the sculptor was trying to avoid having a goggle-eyed dragon staring forward…but ended up with a dragon that can barely see out of its tiny little eyes. And the paint job simply doesn’t do the sculpt justice, which has plenty of nuance in its ear flaps, horns, and teeth. So of course I had to repaint it.

Should You Get It?

There’s no other tissue box cover like this on the market. Even creating a 3D printed version doesn’t achieve the same goal, as the nature of this cover is it needs to be heavy resin to keep everything in place. As a game room accessory, it looks fantastic, if perhaps more eye-catching than intended given it’s white. With a fresh coat of paint, I’m quite happy with it; if you have players with the sniffles or need to dry their tears, this tissue box cover makes a great gift. I’m happy with how mine turned out. You can purchase it at Amazon for $25.
