Helldivers 2: The Board kicked off a Gamefound crowdfunding campaign yesterday. It’s already hit their goal and is well over 1000% funded!

Apparently, people really want to spread democracy because (as of writing this) Helldivers 2: The Board Game is at 1,127% funded (note: by the time I finished write the rest of this article, it hit 1,136%). It hit it’s goal in just 12 minutes and 26 seconds after it went live! And it’s still going up. There’s 13 days left in the campaign and (clearly) it’s funded; so it’s going to happen. You can dive into this one as there’s still plenty of time to back this project.

Helldivers 2: The Board Game

Now, if you’re like me, you probably want to know a bit more about the actual gameplay before you back this one. That’s fair! The good news is that there’s already a beta of the rule book that you can check out!

There’s also an official playthrough video to check out as well:

Helldivers 2 – Core Gameplay

The core of the gameplay is that up to 4 players take on the role of a Helldiver and attempt to complete missions to fight off the enemies of democracy! What that really means is that this is basically there’s an objective in the mission that the players need to complete. If you run out of reinforcements OR time, you lose.

The beta rules sure look complete! You could almost get a game in if you had the components. However, even with proxies, I think that would be a tall order. If you managed to find a suitable board/tiles with Grids and suitable miniatures, you’ve still got a lot of cards to deal with. I mean, just check out the round of play sequence:

So yeah — the cards are kind of important as they have events on them. Still, the rule book highlights how this game will run. I haven’t had time to dig all the way into it, but it does seem like a fun co-operative board game to try out.

How About Those Miniatures?

And then there’s the miniatures…

These look pretty fantastic! You can scroll through the campaign for even more details of the miniatures. But I just want to say that I’m pleased with these sculpts already. They nail the look of the Helldivers and the Terminid Hordes. If you scroll down even further you can see some of the Add-ons and expansions waiting to come out, too. And yes, Automatons are part of those expansions!

If you’ve made it this far I’m assuming you know how these Gamefound Crowdfunding campaigns work already. So if you want to support this one, pick your pledge and get all the goodies you want. If you’re still on the fence, check out more How To Play info and decide if this one is for you.

Refunds and Release Dates

As always, just be aware of any possible taxes and shipping costs that might occur after this is ready to ship. Also, this one is part of the Stable Pledge Program. What does that mean? Well, this:

This is also not the first time out for Steamforged Games. They’ve been around the block and have 19 successfully fulfilled tabletop crowdfunding campaigns. All that to say, this one is also estimated to ship out in October of 2026 — so just be aware of that, too!

So if you want to get in on the Helldivers action, you’ve got 13 days to do so!
