Doctor Strange represents the more mystical-side of Marvel: Crisis Protocol. Here’s a few of his Rogues Gallery we’d like to see added.

I’ve done a lot of thinking about various X-Men characters, Cosmic Characters, and even some street-level threat’s I’d love to see added to Marvel: Crisis Protocol. But one area I tend to shy away from is the more Mystical-side of the house. It’s not that I don’t like Doctor Strange — quite the opposite. But to be perfectly honest, things just get weird. However, I was inspired by the fact that AMG did include Dormammu as a character in the game. So why not a few of these other Mystical threats from Doctor Strange’s side of things?

Shuma-Gorath

Okay, let me just start with the one we’re all thinking about. Shuma-Gorath is a Great Old One — that’s a race of creatures that predate Earth. But really this Great Old One is inspired from the likes of Robert E. Howard (and maybe a bit of Lovecraft mixed in).

Anyhow, this character is nice of nuts when you think about how it could function on the tabletop. But I’d leave that up to the folks at Atomic Mass Games to sort out. Oh and before you go “oh, they’d never bring that character into the game” I just want to point out 1) We got a Dormammu and 2) We’ve already got hints of him:

I’m just saying don’t rule this one out completely…

Mindless Ones

The Mindless Ones are basically goons…and mostly associated with Dormammu. However, they can be summoned in and used by their summoner for whatever nefarious reasons they choose. Personally, I think they could be a cool addition as a Grunt option. Mechanically, I would think they’d at least require a Team Tactic Card slot and probably some sort of Threat adjustment to include. But it could be fun to see them on the tabletop regardless!

Nightmare

Nightmare is actually a Fear Lord and hails from a Dream Dimension. He’s not just a Doctor Strange villain, but he’s crossed paths with him and Doctor Voodoo a few times before. Regardless, I think he’d be a cool addition to the roster, too. Personally, I was thinking “why would he be present on the tabletop in Marvel: Crisis Protocol?” But then I rememeber we have Dormammu and now we have Mephisto…so I’d just chalk this one up to “Because Comics!”

Blackheart

I’ve talked about Blackheart before. He’s been teased in the Team Tactic Card art for Mystic Ward so it seems fitting. Anyhow, he’s the “son” of Mephisto and an evil entity who has dreams of overthrowing his father. He’s typically at odds with Ghost Rider but being a Mystical Threat, I figured it would make sense if he made this list. Personally, I think since we got Mephisto in the game Blackheart can’t be that far behind.

Morgan le Fay

This is the Marvel version of Morgan le Fay, based on the same character from Authurian legend. She’s a potent practitioner of the Mystic Arts. That being the case she’s had more than a few run ins with Doctor Strange over the years. But she’s also fought with the Avengers and Asgardians as well. Oh and she’s also one of Doctor Doom’s love interests. Anyhow, I think she’d be another cool mystical character to add to the tabletop. There’s also been a few different takes on her character over the years so it would be need to see what version AMG settled on for her tabletop incarnation.

More Mystical Threats Abound

There’s quite a few more mystical threats in the comics that are running around. Doctor Doom seems like an obvious example. But there’s also characters like Umar (the sister of Dormammu), the Dweller-in-Darkness, and even evil versions of Doctor Strange Himself.

But here’s where I kick this over to you! If you’ve got a character from Doctor Strange’s Rogues Gallery you like let us know in the comments. Or heck, let’s open it up to even more Mystical Threats out there.
