Superhero Tabletop Role-Playing Games
Heroes Unlimited™ RPG, 2nd Edition – Old School CRUNCH, D100 – I played a ton of this about 25 years ago. The rules were difficult, but the heroes were cool.
Champions – Old, old school, CCCRRRUUUUUUNCH, D6 – I played one session at Gen Con. It was a lot of fun, but I relied on the GM to help me understand the rules.
Mutants & Masterminds Deluxe Hero’s Handbook – Mid-crunch, D20 – I’ve never played this. I heard good things from a friend who was recently in a campaign using it.
Outgunned Superheroes – QuickStart – Cinematic, D6 – I have yet to play this, but it looks modern and sleek.
SWADE Super Powers Companion – Savage Worlds expansion – I love Savage Worlds, but I haven’t used it for superheroes yet.
Mutant City Blues – Gumshoe, rules-light, investigation focused – I’m still on my quest to play a GUMSHOE game—maybe someday.
City of Mist: Player’s Guide – Powered by the Apocalypse, more of a collaborative play vibe – I’ve played other PbtA games, and I’d enjoy playing superheroes in that style.
Faserip and Advanced FASERIP – An update of the early 80s Marvel Super Heroes RPG
The Book of Random Tables: Superheroes – My resource guide to help GMs running superhero campaigns.
