Outgunned Superheroes.png

Outgunned Superheroes from Two Little Mice

  • END DATE: Jun 5, 2025 at 4:00pm EDT.
  • CROWDFUNDING ON: Backerkit
  • SYSTEM(S): Director’s Cut
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: €149 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the 3 books and GM screen plus dice and a poster
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? From the publisher behind Household comes a TTRPG where you can play as superheroes using the same system as their Outgunned series. Advertised as a cinematic RPG inspired by action and heist films, this version pulls from the storytelling of the biggest superhero flicks to create a world where the villains are more powerful than you. Using d6 dice pools of Outgunned, you’ll face powerful beings that can only be defeated with, uh, maximum effort. The artwork does a credible job of re-envisioning Marvel characters in such a way that you recognize them just as Squadron Supreme is Marvel’s Justice League. If you want to try out this superhero RPG, check out the Backerkit campaign page for a link to the free PDF quickstart guide.
Invisible Sun- Electric and Indigo.png

Invisible Sun: Electric and Indigo from Monte Cook Games

  • END DATE: Jun 6, 2025 at 8:00pm EDT.
  • CROWDFUNDING ON: Backerkit
  • SYSTEM(S): Invisible Sun
  • PROJECT TYPE: Revised core rulebook and sourcebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $54 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the sourcebook
  • ADDITIONAL REPORTING: Beth Rimmels reviews the original version of the game here and Andrew Peregrine delves into the experience and cost of this RPG here
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This campaign offers a re-envisioned presentation of Monte Cook Games’ Invisible Sun TTRPG plus a new sourcebook, The Electric Sun. In a reality with nine suns, you are the awakened that have moved from our mundane purgatory to the true, mythical reality. In a surreal fantasy world, you understand the true power of the universe is magic. The Electric Sun sourcebook introduces new magic, adventures, and more for your tabletop adventures. If you own the original version of the game, you have everything you’ll need to play and incorporate the new sourcebook as known of the rules changed. The Invisible Sun: Indigo is not a new edition of the Black Cube version of Invisible Sun. Check out the Backerkit campaign page for the free primer PDF to learn more about Invisible Sun.
Heroes of Might and Magic TTRPG.png

Heroes of Might and Magic TTRPG from Modiphius Entertainment

  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Based on Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia, this is officially licensed by Modiphius Entertainment and LMPublishing from Ubisoft. This high fantasy video game comes to tabletop using a variant of Modiphius’ 2D20 system. With this campaign you’ll get rules, setting information, and the history of the world. If you’re a fan of the video game or 2D20 fantasy, check out the Kickstarter page for a link to the free quickstart guide.

Dank and Dark, the World's Only Board Book Roleplaying Game!.png

Dank and Dark, the World’s Only Board Book Roleplaying Game! from Philip Reed Games

  • END DATE: Jun 11, 2025 at 2:30pm EDT.
  • CROWDFUNDING ON: Backerkit
  • SYSTEM(S): Tunnel Goons
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $35 + S/H for the PDF and board book versions of the game plus PDF bookmarks
  • ADDITIONAL REPORTING: I interviewed Philip Reed about Dank and Dark here
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This project will introduce a 24-page variation of Nate Treme’s Tunnel Goons, a simplistic but genius TTRPG engine. The secret sauce is the form factor: The book is a board book. Board books are pre-reader books where each page is thick cardboard meant to endure a reader more interested in biting the book than forming words. The format pairs well with the games engine, Tunnel Goons. In combat, your enemy’s AC is a target number. Roll 2d6 and add a bonus. If you exceed the target, you deal the points over the target number as damage, which lowers their AC for the next attack. If you don’t roll high enough, you take the difference as damage. A creature with an AC/HP of 10 is hard to hit, and when you don’t, you’ll take the damage as a consequence. But every time you hit, it’s easier to strike them the next time. It’s a smooth system that’s perfect for the youngest players. That said, is this TTRPG for children? The print version and the system say yes, but the contents may skew a bit older, not adult, but maybe not the youngest of kids. If you’re a fan of simple fantasy RPGs, this one offers the rules, a short bestiary, and adventures, check out the Backerkit campaign page for more details.
Liquid Steel Comic & Roleplaying Game.png

Liquid Steel Comic & Roleplaying Game from Melsonian Arts Council

  • END DATE: Jun 6, 2025 at 1:00pm EDT.
  • CROWDFUNDING ON: Backerkit
  • SYSTEM(S): TROIKA!
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook and comic
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: £60 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the book and comic plus more
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This campaign is part TTRPG and part comic book. Part of the proceeds go towards translating Eduardo Mazzitelli and Enrique Alcatena’s Argentinian science-fantasy comic series into English, the rest goes towards turning the concepts into a TTRPG using the TROIKA! system. Translated by indy TTRPG creator Gavriel Quiroga, the comic will be 288 pages, all copied from the original black-and-white artwork. On top of the complete comic book series, you can get the RPG version using a system as gonzo as the comic itself. If you’re a fan of sci-fi comics from South America and TROIKA! RPGs, check out the Backerkit page for more details.
Slay to Win.png

Slay to Win from Nerdburger Games

  • END DATE: Fri, June 6 2025 8:00 PM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): An original system
  • PROJECT TYPE: RPG card game
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $25 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the card game in a box
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Want to play a dungeon crawl in a new way? Card based, you’ll draw and play cards as you navigate the rooms and traps of the dungeon. With roleplaying optional rules, you can create a traditional RPG or go for the thrill of exploring and surviving the unknown. I participated in the playtest for this game, and it is fun. I’m not a card player, but this had a good mix of fantasy RPG elements along with a clever system to create your character, decide where you’re going next, and what you’ll fight to make the gameplay loop enjoyable. The killing blow gets the treasures, so there’s conflict in and out of the party. The game is $25 for the base set. If you’re a fan of dungeon crawls and cards, check out the campaign page to see videos.

UNDERHAVEN.png

UNDERHAVEN from Shadow Drifter Games

  • END DATE: Sat, June 7 2025 2:25 PM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): TN13 Gaming System
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $20 for the PDF version of the book along with the PDF discount coupon for the softcover and hardcover versions of the book
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This is a fantasy OSR in which each stat provide a die (d4 to d12) to roll with your d20 against a target number. Inspired by Scott Myers’ Whitewyrm, this game adds more dice to your combat and action rolls. In addition, there’s an underground adventure in which the surface world is a myth, and survival is beneath the planet. If you’re a fan of OSR systems and settings, this may speak to you.
