Which of the four Spearhead boxes is the best bang for your Age of Sigmar bucks? Let’s do some math and find out.

This is a pretty straightforward comparison. Today, we’re going to look at each of the Spearhead boxes and figure out the price breakdown for each. It’s an easy comparison as well because each box has a sticker price of $145. So let’s dive in and start breaking these down!

Spearhead: Cities of Sigmar – Fusil-Platoon Pricing Breakdown

Contents

1x Fusil-Major on Ogor Warhulk $58

1x Alchemite Warforger $37

11x Wildercorps Hunters $62.50

10x Freeguild Fusiliers (and 1x Blackpowder Squire) $60

Total Individual MSRP: $217.50

Total Savings: $72.50

It’s also worth noting that the Widlercorps Hunters are currently online only purchases. That’s just another reason is box set might be worth checking out.

Spearhead: Ossiarch Bonereapers – Mortisan Elite Pricing Breakdown

Contents

1x Mortisan Ossifector $35

3x Necropolis Stalkers (which can alternatively be built as Immortis Guard) $60

3x Immortis Guard (which can alternatively be built as Necropolis Stalkers)  $60

2x Morghast Archai (which can alternatively be built as Morghast Harbingers) $70

Total Individual MSRP: $225

Total Savings: $80

I’ll be honest I’m partial to this boxed set as I’m already a fan of the Ossiarch Bonereapers. Also, this is only 9 models to build and paint. That feels very doable!

Spearhead: Ogor Mawtribes – Scrapglutt Pricing Breakdown

Contents

6x Hrothgorn’s Mantrappers* $65

1x Gnoblar Scraplauncher (which can alternatively be built as an Ironblaster) $42

12x Gnoblars** $20

8x Ironguts (plus 4x Gnoblars) $90

Total Individual MSRP: $217

Total Savings: $72

*So Hrothgorn’s Mantrappers was a Warband for Warhammer Underworlds that’s currently out of print. I’m putting them down for $65 because that’s what you might be able to find them for in stores or online since they are out of print.

**A box of Gnoblars comes with 24 for $40.

Overall, this is probably my strangest breakdown on this list. I’m not an Ogor player so keep that in mind but I don’t feel like this one is worth it. Unless you really want Hrothgorn’s Mantrappers that is.

Spearhead: Seraphon – Sunblooded Prowlers Pricing Breakdown

Contents

4x Jaws of Itzl $44

1x Spawn of Chotec (plus 3x Skink handlers) $58

13x Hunters of Huanchi (10x Chameleon Skinks and 3x Terrawings) $62.50

10x Saurus Warriors $62.50

Total Individual MSRP: $227

Total Savings: $82

This is another super weird Spearhead box because you’ve got two “warbands” in the box. The Jaws of Itzl are from Underworlds while the Hunters of Huanchi were a Warcry warband. So this box would actually be a neat option if you could find the cards for those respective warband to play in their respective side-games.

Best Value Spearhead?

Based purely on the numbers listed the Seraphon Spearhead is the best deal at $82 in savings. I still think this is a super weird box but you can’t really argue with the math. As mentioned above, I’m biased towards the Ossiarch Bonereapers box but it’s my best overall pick. Why? Well, it’s $80 is savings and you get a 9 model count Spearhead force to build and paint. It’s probably the fastest army to get on the tabletop if you really want to dive in. But hey, that’s just my opinion. You do you.
