Critical Role’s Campaign 2 will soon be its own animated series – and you can get your first peek at The Mighty Nein right here.
Campaign 2 really kicked things into high gear for Critical Role. It’s where the community crystallized around characters like Caleb, Nott, Jester, and Fjord. And boy, does the cosplaying cadre of Critters really love Jester. The Mighty Nein (or as you’ll soon see, the Sensual Seven) quickly made a place in the hearts of many, so little wonder that they should get their own animated series. And from what we’ve seen so far, this one looks like it really leans into the humor and chaos that defined that party.
The Mighty Nein Animated Series First Look
It all kicks off with a classic example of a scene – the crew are being interrogated after a terrible, reptile-related mishap, and as investigators ask them question, the scene cuts from character to character. You see it in all sorts of places, and love to see it here.
And truly the gang’s all here. The Mighty Nein animated series is set to premiere this November, and will follow the early days of the campaign. Which means that some fans will enjy seeing the Tiefling wanderer, Mollymauk, return to the screen for a while, at least.
And as we learned at a panel from SDCC, there are some incredible guest stars on the roster for this series, including Alan Cumming, Tim McGraw, Jonathan Frakes, Ming-na Wen, Mark Strong, Auli’i Cravalho, Rahul Kohli, Robbie Daymond, and Anika Noni Rose.
“Which is it – The Mighty Nein or The Sensual Seven? Whatever it is, looks like it comes exclusively to Prime Video on November 19th!
The Mighty Nein is an hour long new animated series from the team at Critical Role, who also created the critically acclaimed series, The Legend of Vox Machina. The Mighty Nein follows a group of fugitives and outcasts, bound by secrets and scars. But whn a powerful arcane relic known as “The Beacon” falls into dangerous hands, they must learn to work together to save the realm and stop reality itself from unravelling.”
It’s going to be absolutely unreal to see the Critical Role animated series world start to catch up to the current state of affairs in Exandria. But there’s no telling where everything will end up (though I suspect it’ll probably follow the scope of Campaign 2 with a bit of abridging in there somewhere). At any rate, as Vox Machina heads for Season 4, the Mighty Nein gets ready to debut!
Look for The Mighty Nein on Prime Video November 19th!
