If Atomic Mass Games really wants to blow the roof off at Gen Con this week I think it’s time for the Fantastic Four to be announced.
With the new MCU movie out this past weekend and doing quite well I can’t think of a better time to announce the arrival of the Fantastic Four into Marvel: Crisis Protocol. While I was hoping to see Marvel’s First Family announced at AdeptiCon 2025, this weekend seems like the perfect time because it’s also Gen Con 2025. Tons of new tabletop products get announced and I don’t think the timing could be any better. Coming off the hit movie’s opening weekend into (arguably) the biggest weekend in Tabletop gaming; the iron is hot. I hope AMG is ready to strike.
If Marvel Rivals introduction of the Fantast Four wasn’t big enough, I don’t think the hype-train is going to get any bigger than now.
It’s Clobbering Time
I know AMG has been getting poked about the lack of the Fantastic Four for a long time. It almost feels like their version of the GW Squat Clock where every time someone mentions “where’s the Fantastic Four in Marvel: Crisis Protocol?” the timer get reset. I know I’ve contributed my fair share to that noise, too. It’s really because of the characters their introduction opens up. There’s the big three in my mind: Galactus, Silver Surfer, and of course Doctor Doom.
But there’s also quite a few other characters. Ones I’ll probably get to in another post. Regardless, I think Gen Con 2025 seems like a great time to update the fans on the status of what’s coming.
Just to be clear, I don’t think that the Fantastic Four are coming in 2025. And I’d love to be wrong in this case. But I think the announcement that they are in the pipeline would be HUGE. That said, it’s worth noting that the above image isn’t a comprehensive list — so AMG might be holding a few of their cards close to the chest.
Atomic Mass Games does have a plan for reissuing a bunch of characters in the new character packs. They also have new characters on the way, too. That said, a Fantastic Four Character pack seems like an obvious move.
My terrible mock-up of what the Fantastic Four Character Pack could be.
The Timing Would Be …Fantastic
I don’t know what AMG is planning for MCP in the future. What I do know is Gen Con was the first place they debuted Marvel: Crisis Protocol. So it’s not unlike AMG to have a big announcement at the show. That said, I do know they are currently in a big push for the new edition of Star Wars: Legion and will be hosting demos of that at Gen Con 2025 all weekend. But who really knows what’s going to get announced at the keynotes or press events?
That’s part of the fun and the magic of Gen Con and these conventions in general. Lots of companies use them to make a big splash. I honestly can’t think of a better time to make the announcement for the Fantastic Four to join MCP. Hopefully AMG can shock/wow/surprise us all. I really just hope there’s not some legal/rights issue holding them up. All it would take is just a teaser image, too. They wouldn’t even need to show off miniatures — just an art screen like the one below.
I guess we’ll find out what happens this week at Gen Con. Will AMG be able to showoff the Fantastic Four? I sure hope so!
