A newly announced expansion for Twilight Imperium 4th Edition offers up a whole new way to play. Check out Thunder’s Edge, coming soon.
Twilight Imperium is never short on ways to find galactic conflict with your friends. Whether it’s unleashing the tides of war (and several dozen plastic ships and war suns) or forging interfactional alliances that your best friends break with a smile on their face, it’s a fun game. And now, with a newly announced expansion, that all looks to grow. Fantasy Flight Games revealed “Thunder’s Edge,” an expansion with a ton of new options, including a whole new gameplay mode.
Twilight Imperium: Thunder’s Edge
This new expansion for Twilight Imperium promises a lot. Starting with all the usual stuff you’d expect from a TI expansion pack. Especially since this is a big, hefty box all on its own, it is chock full of all the Twilight Imperium goodness, including a bunch of new components. More on that in a second.
Weighing in at around the same price as the base game means this box has to offer a lot to both seasoned players and newbies hoping to make the most out of their collection. And to that end, you’ll find plenty of new options for the base game – some of which you can get an idea of just from the box art alone.
But the real crowning glory of this box seems to be the new “Twilight’s Fall” mode. This is a new way to play the game:
“Also included is the brand-new Twilight’s Fall mode, an alternate way to play Twilight Imperium. Take up the mantle ofa mad Mahact king, build your own custom faction from the scraps of interstellar civilization, and battle to become the supreme ruler of the galaxy.. This mode comes with its own spread of unique components, making it almost an entirely new game!”
And of course, you’ll get all the expected things like new world tiles, new factions to play, and a new suite of galactic events for the base game. All of which goes to show that no matter how many times you play Twilight Imperium, the galaxy will never run out of permutations to draw you back in.
Keep an eye out for the expansion later this year. You’ll need a full copy of Twlight Imperium 4E to play, also, because this is not a standalone expansion.
