WizKids has a 5.5e red dragon head trophy plaque to put up on your wall – but you can put this up somewhere regular because it’s smaller.
What I mean to say is, you won’t need to actually have a trophy room to display the latest red dragon head trophy plaque from WizKids. It’s not large and in charge. It’s smaller and baller, I guess – the new trophy plaque, according to WizKids, is half the weight and less than half the size – and it may not even require that you mount it on “structural elements,” though that remains to be seen.
But, most importantly to some of you, I’m sure, this is also the timeliest red dragon head trophy plaque, because it’s sculpted based on the new look for the 5.5E red dragon. Which, as you can see, has had quite the glow-up.
5.5E Red Dragon Trophy Plaque – Game Room Sized And Coming Soon
If you are unfamiliar with these kinds of things, WizKids trophy plaques are scale model sculptures out of poly-foam and latex. They are extremely detailed, down to the ridges on the horns, and the little spikes and scales. And each one is hand-painted as well. So you don’t just get the “pre-painted miniature” look. There’s a lot more room to play with details.
This isn’t the first time WizKids has released something like this. As mentioned, the new 5.5E red dragon head trophy plaque is a scaled-down model. The 5E red dragon head weighed something like 16 pounds and was 30ish inches, and you had to mount it on studs.
You may well still have to mount the smaller red dragon on studs, because even though it’s smaller, it still weighs in at 7 pounds. Which is absolutely wild to me. This is an accessory with some heft to it. It will loom over your table – a presence and a reminder of the tools at the DM’s disposal.
The plaque is newly unveiled, so we don’t have the specifics about price. But, as a sort of measure, we can look at the price for the old trophy plaques, which came in at under $500 – around $474 not including shipping. So at half the size, maybe it’ll be half the price? It might be too much to hope for in this economy, but it doesn’t hurt to dream.

Coming Soon
You can expect to see WizKids’ new plaque go up for pre-order soon, once shipping schedules are confirmed. I know that’s usually the last detail – and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some tariff troubles to navigate here. But, once it goes up for pre-order, you can be sure we’ll let you know.
In the mean time, time to find the perfect place for the dragon head to go. Over the DM seat? Or over where that one player always sits?
Or do you go full Godfather and leave this unmounted, to be given as a warning when the party gets too off track?
