The new/returning Lady Malys is coming to the tabletop. And now we know what special rules she’s bringing with her.

Maybe you missed the announcement but Lady Malys is the new character coming to join the pending Drukhari Codex release. She’s got a couple different head options and is packing the poisons and other various sharp objects.

However, today we got a bunch of her background lore. That’s all well and good and I’m glad to see this type of stuff out there. In fact, I recommend you read it for yourself if you’re into the lore. That said, what I know a lot of folks are really curious about is what Lady Malys is bringing to the tabletop in terms of rules.

Perhaps it’s her Aeldari Ancestry that gives her the powers of precognition. Or, if you read her lore, than you know her powers may have come from a battle of wills from within the Webway. That said, I think this one is actually fairly potent for the Drukhari to tap into. Being able to select up to three Drukhari units and redeploy them is pretty handy. Not to mention you can even move them into Strategic Reserves — even if you’re at the limit already!

Personally, I’m just thinking of the dumb combos that pop up when you combine that rule with the Detachments we’ve seen so far. Now, I’m not 100% sure which Detachments she’ll be allowed in but I’m guessing that the majority of them are available for her. Redeploying three Raiders, Ravagers, or Venoms (or some combination of them) seems pretty strong to me. And I think that’s exactly the point of this power.

Coming in from Reserves does limit the amount of risk those units will have to show up where you need them. And, based on the other rules teased so far, I think this is likely going to be a potent tool in the Drukhari playbook.

Shoot, even if you don’t opt for Transports, there’s other units that could benefit from a sneaky redeploy, too. Anyhow, I think you get the idea. Lady Malys is bringing some sneaky tricks with her that are going to happen post-deployment. How you take advantage of them is going to determine the value of her in your army. Still, I’m wondering what else she’s packing (beyond poison). Oh, and if her points are cheap enough I don’t see a reason she won’t be a bunch of Drukhari lists moving forward.

What do you think of Lady Malys and her redeployment tricks? Is she going to make the cut into your Drukhari army?
