It’s time to take the plunge. The Star Wars: Legion Starter sets are here and we’re unboxing the Rebel Alliance!
Well if you were waiting for a better time to start your journey into Star Wars: Legion then this is it. The new Starter Set are out now and they are freaking awesome. Not only are they some of the best deals out there, they have everything a new player needs to jump in and start playing. We got sent these by AMG/Asmodee and we’re diving into the contents. So let’s do this!
Unsurprisingly, everything listed on the back of the box is indeed inside, too. It’s a 600-point Recon-Level Army. Just add water. Or actually, don’t do that. Just uh…get your hobby tools out and start building!
Star Wars: Legion – Rebel Alliance Starter Set Unboxed
To kick things off, I just want to show the PILE of stuff you’re getting. Seriously, it’s a lot. Everything is in it’s respective baggy. So that’s a plus. It’s also what we’ve come to expect from AMG.
Now, I wanted to show off the flyers this time around because this is a new style product. I also wanted to mention that the one on the left is basically “how to configure your starter 600-point army. It comes in all the supported languages, too. All the rules and cards can also be found online from AMG. If you’re curious about the game, you can download the rules and read up on them before you do anything else.
Up next we get three cardboard sheets for the tokens and player dashboard. If you have the first starter set then these should be familiar. There’s a lot of tokens and punchouts to keep track of. If you’re looking for a storage option, I really like the Gamegenic Token Silo Convertible. I have a few of them for various games that have a ton of tokens (looking at you Marvel: Crisis Protocol and Arkham Horror: The Card Game). Now I’ll have to get another one for Star Wars: Legion.
So the cards also come in each of the supported languages. The good news is they also each come in their own respective baggy. Now, I didn’t bust out all the cards to take photos of each of them because it’s a big stack of cards. Again, you can see the full card list and their unit cards online. But trust me: they are all there.
As for the dice, you get a set of four for each of the types you’ll use in the game. This should be enough for most players. But, to be honest, some folks might want a few more. There’s a set of extra defense and attack dice you can buy if you find yourself needing more.

Star Wars: Legion also has their own set of range and movement tools. If you’re new to the game these might seem kind of funky at first. “Why can’t I use use a tape measure?” I mean, you could…theoretically. But you’d have to know the exact measurements of these tools. Also the movement tools can bend in the middle. I’m not going to lie, it can take some getting used to with these…but it’s not that hard. Eventually, it will be second nature.
Finally, we get to the sprues. SO. MANY. SPRUES. Again, we’ve done the breakdown of this box and it’s contents. There’s only one “unique” option in the box and that’s Commander Luke:
The other units are all pre-existing and most of them just recently got updates. So that’s neat. And just in case you missed it here’s the full list:
Again, this is a fantastic deal and it’s packing way more than $100 of goodies in this box. There’s really no better way to start a Rebel Alliance army than this box.
May The Force Be With You
The good news is that this box is out now. That means you can snag one this weekend and start playing Star Wars: Legion as soon as you get them built! So what are you waiting for — you don’t need a Force Push to get you going, do you?
