This massive LEGO Imperial Star Destroyer includes thousands of pieces and a full interior packed with amazing details.
The Star Destroyer is possibly the most iconic ship in all of Star Wars. It’s the second ship to show up on screen in A New Hope and, as such, was the second ship audiences saw. It left a massive impression and became instantly iconic. In the universe, they helped forge an Empire. These vast ships travel between the stars and help bring the galaxy to heel.
A symbol of the Emperor’s reach, an Imperial Star Destroyer brings the Empire wherever it goes. The Star Destroyer is as heavy as it gets when it comes to capital ships. You could call it the workhorse of the Imperial Fleet, but it does so much more than work. With crews in the tens of thousands, they were designed to be able to conquer a planet on their own. They are the most iconic symbol of Imperial might and a stable of shows and movies.

LEGO Star Destroyer
Today, we are taking a look at a really cool Star Destroyer MOC. We’ve covered another ISD MOC by this builder before, but this one is still pretty special. The builder, Matt Benner, also made an amazing MC80A Mon Calamari Cruiser, which we covered here. You can find him on social media here and here. He’s incredibly talented.
The build clocks in at a respectable 15,310 pieces. It’s just over 3 feet long, which makes it a very displayable build, and it’s just under 30 lbs.
So why should you care about this build, when there is a bigger one? Well look, any ISD build is super cool, but this one does have some things going for it. The first is that its got a very detailed interior that the ship comes apart to show off. Inside you’ll find conference rooms, a bridge, an engineering room, a canteen, barracks, and a full hanger bay with deployable TIE-fighters! All of that is super cool and gives you a lot of play features.
It also fits really well into this smaller build in a nice way. And smaller builds have their advantages. This is a much more attainable build that some of the big 35000+ piece monsters.
In fact, if you want to buy the instructions for it and make your own, you can do that here. (We have no afflation with this.). I think that’s pretty cool and this is a much more approachable big build for people wanting a cool display piece. Building your own also lets you swap out colors if you want which is cool. So I think that earns it a nice place.

Start Your Own LEGO Imperial Fleet
While you can’t walk into a store and buy this ISD MOC, it is pretty easy to get your own Star Destroyer. LEGO has made several sets over the years and the latest one is pretty cool. This ship also comes apart to show off a detailed (if less and smaller) interior that you can play around with. Overall, it’s a really cool looking take on the classic ship.
