The Combat Patrols for the White Scars and Iron Hands now have free rules to go with their new boxes. They are just a download away.

Games Workshop announced that when these two Space Marine Chapters got their Combat Patrol boxes that their rules would follow. Well, that day is today. The Combat Patrol downloads are now available for your use. So let’s take a quick look at both.

White Scars Combat Patrol Rules

First up, we have the White Scars Stormglaive Hunters rules. This one gives you access to Oath of Moment as well as two different options for Suboden Khan as your Warlord. Additionally, being a Combat Patrol, you also get your own batch of Strategems and optional Secondary Objectives.

I think it’s pretty clear from these options that GW really wants you to lean into Suboden Khan with this Combat Patrol. Master Rider plus Chogorian Storm means Suboden Khan will be able to get charges off rather freely. Alternatively, if you wanted to go headhunting, giving him Savage Hunter and opting for the Trophy Takers could net you 10 VPs as well.

Finally, this is a Combat Patrol so there are datasheets for all the units required to run this one. You can download the White Scars Combat Patrol Rules Here.

Iron Hands Combat Patrol Rules

Hey, look at that! This Space Marine Combat Patrol also has access to Oath of Moment. Jokes aside, that’s to be expected. But this is the Medusan Dedoubt for the Iron Hands so it does have a pair of options for your Techmarine which is nice. You can run him solo or with those Heavy Intercessors for some extra support. Moving on from there we get the additional Combat Patrol Options.

Just like the White Scars (and basically all the other Combat Patrols out there) you’ve got additional Stratagems and Secondary Objectives. Honestly, this Combat Patrol has some tough choices. I suppose you could tally up the number of enemy units you’re up against to decide of Advance and Secure is better or if Methodical Destruction is better. This is a very ranged-firepower oriented Combat Patrol so that would make sense. In either case, you can download the Iron Hands Combat Patrol rules here.

What I appreciate about both of these options is how different they are to play. The White Scars are looking to move up and get in your face. The Iron Hands are ready to hold the line and make the enemy pay for every inch they push forward. Both seem viable in Combat Patrol games.
