The Ultramarines are on the way and Games Workshop is showing off the new Datasheets for these updated miniatures.

Get ready for some updates for the Ultramarines. GW has dropped a trip of new Datacards for players to use. These will soon get pushed out to the Warhammer App — after the World Championships of Warhammer. But if you want to check them out now you’ve come to the right place.

“Marneus Calgar no longer comes with his personal pair of Victrix Guard, but instead gains the Deep Strike rule and the ability to join Terminators and Assault Terminators in battle – great news if you’re picking up the Battleforce: Crux Terminatus box tomorrow.”

Calgar is back in the Armour of Antilochus (aka Terminator Armor). He’s still packing the deadly Gauntlets of Ultramar, too. One other thing that’s worth noting is that this doesn’t replace the Gavis Armor version of his character. You just can’t use both in the same list — he is an Epic Hero and has the Lord Calgar rule.

Personally, I would have to agree about running him with the Battleforce: Crux Terminatus. That seems like a pretty natural pairing.

Cato Sicarius

“The new incarnation of Cato Sicarius is a little different. The headline change is to his signature Talassarian tempest blade, which can now select one of three combat styles to tackle hard targets, hordes of lesser foes, or single out enemy champions – reflecting his unmatched skill as a duelist.”

What’s really neat about this version of Cato Sicarius (to me at least) is that you can combine him with the Victrix Honour Guard and Calgar in a single unit. I don’t know how effective that’s going to be on the tabletop but holy moly I would not want to get charged by that ball of doom!

This unit is lean, mean, and ready to be seen! They are a deadly trio of warriors (or six if you want to run the larger size squad). They are good for taking Objectives thanks to their 2 OC. But really they are a brick of pain ready to be launched into the fray. You can upgrade one to a Chapter Ancient and another to a Chapter Champion. But however you slice it this unit is a bunch of deadly duelists with both ranged and melee options.

Running them with Sicarius and/or Calgar seems like a smart move to me. But that does feel like all your bricks in one basket. And yes, I mean bricks and not eggs.

Are you ready for the Ultramarines to come to a tabletop near you?
