Marvel Comics has a lot of characters that hop dimensions and time. Here’s a handful we want to see added to the game!
With the release of the Spider-verse characters added to Marvel: Crisis Protocol, I’m been looking at other characters that have traveled to other dimensions. That includes Time-travelers in this case. Why? “Because Comics!” But also because many of the time hoppers in the comics are from different dimensions. And look, I’m not even going to get into time travel theories. Or how time is just another dimension. Or how Marvel handles time paradoxes, loops, and travel in general. Let’s just put all that to the side and have some fun with this one, okay?!
Trevor Fitzroy
Trevor Fitzroy is a weird one. He comes from the same future as Bishop and he’s basically a mutant criminal. That said, his powers include life stealing and portal generation and those portals can even move folks through time. While I don’t think I’d want to mess with time-powers on the tabletop, I do think he’d be a neat character to have. Fitzroy also has a few different looks that could be fun to sculpt up. Honestly, I just want to see him square off against Bishop in MCP!
Old Man Logan
This isn’t just a simple “What If” character version of Logan. No, this is an alternate Wolverine that’s also had a crossover to the main Marvel Comics Universe for a bit. His story is a sad one. How he ends up in “the past” is also another “Because Comics!” level of explanation. This could also lead to a really weird instance where you COULD actually run two Logans’ in a list…but I’m not going to get into that. Still, I think he’d be a pretty awesome addition to the game.
The Maker
“It’s Reed Richards, but evil!” is probably the shortest way I can sum this one up. But it’s SOOO much more than that. The Maker’s origin is complex. He’s from the original Ultimates universe — which is the same one that Miles Morales is from. But, due to dimension-hopping shenanigans, he ended up in the main Marvel 616 universe. But he also made a portal to “get back home…” Which led him to another alternate universe where he’s (currently) wrecking everyone. I heard that Marvel is actually canceling that series (which seems extra dumb) but whatever.
Anyhow, I know it would be odd to get The Maker before we get the Fantastic Four, but I’d be okay with that. But also, bring on the Fantastic Four already!
Doctor Doom
C’mon. You knew this was coming, right? Doom is one of those characters that does it all and Dimension hopping is no exception. He’s got a freakin Time Travel device (the Time Platform) that’s actually pretty scary. It’s based on science and magic and has one other unique property vs other time travel devices. When he uses it to change time, he doesn’t cause a splintering/alternate dimension. It actually changes the history as if “that’s how it’s always been.” Now, that’s the short version. But the point is it’s got some scary potential.
Now, I actually don’t think Doom should have that particular power in MCP. But I feel like if we’re going to have a list of Dimension hoppers and time traveler, we have to drop a mention for Doom!
Rachel Summers
Okay, I’m not even sure where to start with this one. Rachel Summers is the daughter of Jean Grey and Scott Summers. But she’s also from the alternate time line of the “Days of Future Past” saga. She does end up in the main 616 universe as herself later on …”Because Comics!” and that’s a whole thing. Anyhow, she’s also got powers like her mother (Telepathy, Telekinesis, etc) and has also dabbled with the Phoenix Force, too.
You may be thinking “do we need another Jean Grey” type in MCP? That’s a fair point. But Rachel Summers could be very different than Jean based on which “version” of her you based things on. She’s was the one that was able to send Kate Pryde’s mind back in time to kick off that whole story line. So, there’s that! But yes, Rachel Summers is a weird time traveler/dimension hopper and she should 100% be on this list!
“What about Kang?!” Don’t worry…he’s on the way already.
