We’ve got a mace designed to smash faces. But where does it come from? That’s part of the mystery of the Rumor Engine.
Welcome to another Tuesday and a brand new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. This one really does have me scratching my head. It’s a mace. But before we get into all that, you should probably have a look for yourself.
“Amidst all the chainswords, plasma blades, and envenomed knives, the humble bashing stick can struggle to stand out from the crowd. But a bit of wood with some metal on the end has been a beloved instrument of brutality since the dawn of time, and if it’s good enough to last until the 41st Millennium, it’s good enough for us.”
Rumor Engine – Mace To The Face
Maybe this should have been Mace FOR the Face. Anyhow, WarCom does tease that this might actually be for AoS. But it could also be for Necromunda, House Cawdor in particular.
And yeah…I can kind of see it. But let’s get back to the Mace itself. At first I thought maybe it was from the Helsmiths of Hashut. But the designs, while angluar, aren’t quite the same.
My next leaning was towards the Cities of Sigmar. The closest example is the Fusil-Major on Ogor Warhulk:
But even that doesn’t look quite right either. What’s throwing me off here are the spikes and also that paint job. Is that supposed to be energy from a power source or just the “shine” on the weapon? Could it be a weapon from 40k? I mean, we’ve seen GW get creative with power weapons recently…

So yeah, this one is really up in the air right now. What I can tell is that the Mace is well made and not a ramshackle one. So that rules out certain factions. Obviously, it’s not made of bone or chitin so that rules out a few more.
This one leaves me curious! So kudos to the Rumor Engine for that one. So here’s where I kick it over to you. If you’ve got any theories of what this could be drop us a line in the comments. I’m really wondering about what this mace could end up being a part of.
