This year’s Golden Daemon Slayer Sword winner sat down with GW for an interview. Now, can you name all these bits?
First off, I want to say congratulations to the winner of the Slayer Sword from the Golden Demon competition Albert Moreto Font. His painting and hobby skills are on incredible display with this piece.
He sat down with GW for an interview and it’s certainly worth a watch:
While I do appreciate the video, I’m still trying to wrap my head around this miniature. One of the fun things I try to do is identify all the bits on the miniature. How much of it was sculpted? How many kits did they use? Well, this year GW threw us a bone and gave us a list. And it’s kind of nuts!
Slayer Sword Miniature Winner – Name Those Bits
“In his words, the miniature was converted from at least 17 different Warhammer kits, stretching across Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Warhammer: The Old World, and even a little Warhammer 40,000 as a treat – along with some custom parts he hand-sculpted himself. Can you spot any pieces from the following kits?”
So yeah…that’s a LOT of different kits. Can you ID all the bits? I’m still trying (and failing) but that’s more a testimant to how well this miniature is converted and painted up. Everything looks very seamless and every fits like it’s supposed to be that way. That’s how you can tell it’s an awesome conversion.
looking at this piece, I have to keep reminding myself that this was all just blank, grey plastic at some point. Well, aside from whatever green stuff work was done. That wood paneling? Yeah,. that’s painted on there. The text IN the book? Also, hand painted. That’s kind of insane to me. Here I am struggling to paint eye and this guy is writing in Olde English in a book that’s too small to read.
WarCom also has a full 360° view if you want to get an even better look at this miniature. Personally, I’m still trying to process all the little things from this piece. What’s crazy to me is also how good it all looks together. The whole composition works and it doesn’t just come out as a “blob” to me. So again, congrats to Albert Moreto Font. This is a really awesome work of art.
A three-time winner? I can see why!
