The new Spider-Foes starter is in the house and I’ve got them unboxed and ready for a close-up!
Atomic Mass Games has been knocking it out of the park with these new Starter Sets. I looked at the X-Men one yesterday and it’s just about perfect. Today, I’ve got the Spider-Foes Starter Set to review that AMG sent to me. Personally, I was excited for this one for a very specific reason. More on that below…
Finally, the Spider-Foes are ready to run amok!
Spider-Foes Starter Set Unboxed
Just like the X-Men box, this one is also packed full of stuff. There’s almost too much to process here so let’s go step by step again. This one comes with it’s own version of the Tokens for the game. Notice the unique tokens included here are different that the X-Men one.
Also included are the Scoreboard as well as 10 dice that you’ll need to play the game. Again, this is a Starter Set so when AMG says it’s everything you need to start playing, they aren’t kidding.
This set comes with a total of 12 missions. You’ll get 6 Extract and 6 Secure missions. You’ll also get the measuring tools. I included the two Sand Construct cards from Sandman above because they were the same size and I wanted to show that they were different than the mission cards. And speaking of cards…
All of the Characters in the box also come with their respective double-sided Character Cards. It’s worth noting that this box only has the English Language cards as well. It was the same for the X-Men Starter. So you’ll get a full play set for the characters in English.
You’ll also get 21 Team Tactic cards to use as well:
As far as I can tell these are all the current versions of the character and Team Tactic Cards. So if you were looking to get this box for the updated cards, you’re set.

But let’s not forget the star of the show: The miniatures!
Now, if you already have these miniatures then this won’t surprise you: these sprues are the exact same. Some of them are still relatively new as well. But some of the older miniatures might be harder to find as they’ve been out of circulation for a while. I know I was really stoked about this set because it contained the one Spider-Foe I’d been missing. I’ve finally got Rhino!
Spider-Foes Up-close
This big guy was the last Spider-Foe I’d been looking for. Build-wise, he was pretty simple. The shoulder bits were probably the trickiest part of the miniature to assemble but that’s why I dry fit first. Once I got that sorted he was a breeze to build. I’ll get to those connection lines later on with some plastic filler but for now, he’s at least built. My buddy was joking that he’s already painted, too (which he’s not, but he will end up some shade of grey).
But with Rhino, I’ve got all the Spider-Foes from this set ready for the tabletop. I’ve actually unboxed and covered both of the character packs before. If you want to check them out while they are still grey you can see those pics HERE. Anyhow, here’s a few group shots of them:
Now I just need to get those pesky heroes painted and I can have a proper Spider-Man bash!
Spider-Foes Out Now
The Spider-Foes Starter Set is out now online and in stores. This box is great for new players looking to dive into Marvel: Crisis Protocol. It’s got literally everything you need to run these characters in a standard format game. You just have to build’em!
Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Spider Foes Starter Set $94.99
A full roster of some of Spider-Man’s most iconic villains are set to send a jolt to the Spidey-Senses as they take to the streets of New York with one goal in mind: swat down the spider! This Starter Set contains all the miniatures, Character Stat Cards, and Team Tactic Cards for the following characters: Green Goblin, Kraven the Hunter, the Lizard, Mysterio, Shocker, Sandman, Carnage, Rhino, Vulture, and Electro.
Also includes Crisis Cards and all the tokens, measuring tools, and dice needed to play. Players interested in getting into Marvel: Crisis Protocol will find that Starter Sets are the perfect starting place for a single player.
Good thing I’ve got Doc Ock waiting in the wings, too!
